Housekeeping:
2/14/24 All my swaps have been sent by the deadlines and everything I have received has been rated. I am happy to resend ANY swap so let me know if you have not gotten it in a reasonable amount of time!! I only down rate if a partner doesn't respond to my messages. If you've recently received a 1 from me - I'm more than happy to change the rating once something arrives
I am looking for any postcards new/used from a place called Sycamore Springs in Sebetha, Kansas. It was a Resort/Campground/Sanatorium popular in the very early 1900s, and later a campground and hotel. If you happen to run across anything like that, let me know and I'll swap you something for it.
To my PenPals: I reply to all pen pal letters I receive. So if you wrote me a letter and I never responded, let me know, it may have gotten lost in the mail.
I enjoy books, letter writing, camping, travel, train trips, hiking, photography. I am a nurse, and I've worked in a ton of different areas, but right now I work in a plain old doctor's office. I took up letter writing and sending postcards as a new "covid hobby," and then bumped into swap-bot by accident. I thought it would be a good way to be able to use some of the great stationery and postcards I have found. But I keep getting such great goodies from other swap-bot members, that its hard to use things up as fast as I am gaining new things.
When it comes to letters/postcards I love anything vintage or retro. Actually when it comes to paper goods I like all of it. So if you have a postcard or bit of stationary that you have been hesitating on sending out because you think itβs βnot good enoughβ then nowβs your chance - youβll still get a 5 from me as long as it fits the swap's criteria. I've always weirdly loved mail and paper/pens, so I'm surprised I never found this website before now. And I mean all paper...like one time my cousin was working for a company that was throwing out old fill in forms, for like insurance or something, I was probably 8 years old, and he gave me two paper sacks full of these random tablets of forms. My parents threw all of them away except about 2 inches worth because they didn't think I'd actually want them and it made me nearly cry when I found out. And I was the kid that didn't even cry when the school nurse had to pick rocks out of my face from falling while hanging upside down in the playground...anyway...
I'm not very "crafty" but I like making useful things. Especially sewing on my front porch with an old treadle sewing machine, when the weather is nice. I enjoy making home printed stationery on what ever sort of paper is handy. My new tinkering hobby is fixing up old manual typewriters and using them to write letters.
