IMPORTANT NOTE TO SWAP HOSTS: I am a returning swapper from over ten years ago who left in excellent standing with over 1000 hearts, a 5.0 rating, and never ever flaked. I do not remember my email from that time and the system shows that I have a duplicate account when the host checks. (It could be unavailable as that server was taken down.) But I did use the same name, Karen Fife.
I have been waiting for Admin to merge my accounts (it’s taking a long time - six months now after many messages). I mentioned in my latest message to Rachel that most hosts are okay with allowing me in their swaps, mostly postcards, but there are many other swaps I would like to join. I love Swap-Bot but can’t really fully participate. This is so sad, and I don’t like to not follow rules. I would really appreciate any suggestions about what I can do at this point, especially from longtime swappers who are concerned with the transparent operation of Swap-Bot.
If you check my current swaps and ratings you will get an idea of the kind of swapper I am. Just wanted you to know that I’m very responsible and reliable. I realize it is the host’s decision whether or not to let me in a swap, and whatever you choose, I’ll respect your decision.
THINGS ABOUT ME:
Hello! I live in Michigan and love it, even the winters.
MUSIC: Classical, New Age, and Easy Listening, but I listen to all types.
BOOKS: I read about 85 books a year, mostly series mysteries such as Anne Perry’s Victorian mysteries, Peter Robinson, J. D. Robb, and many British detective series.
MOVIES: Happy endings like Gifted, McFarland USA, Rudy, Letters to Juliette, and dark suspenseful thrillers like Suburbia, Sanctum, and Perfect Getaway.
TELEVISION: I rarely watch TV, but occasionally watch a series such as Downton Abbey or The Crown. My favorite series were King of Queens and Cold Case.
CRAFTS: Quilting (I’m currently working on a project making blankets and quilts for homeless vets, foster kids and pregnancy resource centers), crocheting dishcloths, making my own body and home care products with essential oils....painting with acrylics (abstracts or just playing with color)...making greeting cards. I also dabble in photography and am finally taking a class.
I am a retired preschool teacher (two-year-olds) and still sub on occasion. I am married to a retired professor and we love going on road trips. This past summer we took Route 66 to California. The previous summer we toured Yosemite NP and all the major National parks out west. This is a good way to collect postcards!
I love to make vintage-style ATCs. I often have a theme with a little twist of eyebrow-raising innuendo. I’m up for private ATC swaps of that nature.
I’m very appreciative of all I receive as long as it is what the swap required.
POSTCARD LIKES: Where you live.....Anything strange or unusual...Out-of-the ordinary places, especially small town or village where you live...Vintage, or reproduction vintage. And ones with LARGE LETTER cities, ....city skylines. Tourist type, especially if they are of uncommon places. Unusual animals are fun to receive.
No handmade unless swap is specifically for homemade PCs. I will do private swaps for handmade postcards.
Real photo please, if possible, instead of drawings or cartoons.
I would like my postcards NAKED unless the swap requires an envelope.
I almost always give hearts because I truly appreciate the effort that goes into a swap. I spend time and effort on every swap I send, even the lowly postcard, to try and make it something you will enjoy or will make you smile.
If I have to hunt down the right swap or user, I will not give a heart because those things are swap requirements.
DISLIKES: None, really. Love colors and colorful things. Blacks and grays also. Pale pink will make me super happy. I would most likely love and use anything you send.
GENERAL THEMES I LOVE: squirrels...sloths...goats...chickens...gnomes... flowers... birds...benches...chairs...windows...doors
TEAS: Any kind or brand. A swapper sent me Peach Pie tea which was awesome, and I haven’t been able to find it. English Breakfast is also a favorite.
LITTLE THINGS: Seasonal or holiday themes (any time of year). Seasonal stickers, unused postcards, notecards
I will never flake and will rate as soon as I receive your mail. If a problem arises with a swap I will do my best to resolve it. No drama for me.
My mail is often picked up as late as 7:30 pm, so the postmark on my mail date may show the following day. Personally I don’t bother searching for some mail date. I’m just happy it arrived!
