Hi, my name is Jazzi, and it's been one month since I left Indiana University for the summer ... I was ready to go back a month ago. In the fall, I'll be working as a Resident Assistant and participating in a handful of cultural and/or politically liberal student organizations. At the moment, I'm working as a collections agent--but don't hate me yet! I'm a good person. Really.
I'm a vegetarian, and all of my bath and body products are 100% vegan. I'm a card-carrying member of the ACLU, and I'm working on starting a branch of Youth Advocates at IU. Social change is important to me. After graduation, I want to go into the Peace Corps, then maybe spend a couple of years in a third-world country designing a bionic suit that I will use to enforce world peace.
I am currently reading 'Enders Game' by Orson Scott Card, and my current passion is science fiction, but I also adore historical fiction, and have developed a recent interest in biography and history. Right now, I'm on the lookout for biographies of Theodore Roosevelt and Mark Twain, but I am always interested in scholarly occult histories of Europe and the United States (think Ronald Hutton, not Margaret Murray).
My favorite authors include Jacqueline Carey, Frank Herbert, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Elizabeth Kostova, Gregory Maguire, Madeline L'Engle, J. K. Rowling, Lynne Truss, Libba Bray, Chuck Palahniuk, Rebecca Stott, and A. S. Byatt. I am a Harry Potter nerd (hat and wand included), and my favorite book in the series is Prisoner of Azkaban. My favorite characters are Luna Lovegood, Sirius Black, Nymphadora Tonks, and James and Lily Potter I.
I have yet to read my favorite book of all time.
The Bird and the Bee, Savage Garden, Simple Plan (I know), Regina Spektor, Say Anything, Train, Michael Buble, Frank Sinatra, Richard Wagner, Fall Out Boy, A Fine Frenzy, The Hush Sound, Fun., The Kooks, Laura Marling, Ludo, Muse, Sugarcult, and Thao Nguyn.
I am semi-obsessed with Bones, which I have only started watching recently. I watch two to three episodes online at the end of the day to unwind. I will also resume watching Glee religiously when new episodes start up again.
Most days, I don't have enough time to watch anything else, but I will zone out in front of Animal Planet, the History Channel, or Food Network occasionally. I would marry Alton Brown in a heartbeat.
Deer, cats, bats, skunks, cute things, the color pink, glitter, handmade things, hemp and burlap, clunky jewelry, tribal art, history, literature, babies, Teddy Roosevelt, rainbows, Gryffindor, glasses, dark and/or dry humor, apples, anything childlike, fairies, cookies, the Victorian era, the Gothic revival, lemon-flavored anything, ice cream, skirts, pretty/girlie things, swirly patterns, blown glass, string/knotted jewelry, beads, origami, letters, calligraphy, the French language, Norse mythology, lilies of the valley, antiques, boxes, notebooks, pens, Portland, Oregon, Massachusetts, coastal cities in general, candles, anything occult, fairy lights, bubbles, glow sticks, theater and theater technology, (fake) pearls, Celtic jewelry
Allergies: Scented lotions, soaps, etc.; animal dander; dust; most metals - I do not have any piercings, not even my ears, and usually cannot wear rings.
Dislikes: Mushrooms (ew!); gore; Twilight; country music; the Confederate flag; crosses and other religious paraphernalia; anything that is between tacky and tasteful--very tacky things are good, tasteful things are good, but nothing in-between; Japanese cherry blossom scent
