About Me

I like my privacy, so please don't use my real name in any public areas (forums, profiles, comments, galleries). Thanks.

Beginner ATCer and swapper.

Hoarder - I have too many craft supplies and no space left to use them in!

I'm not keen on vintage style or shabby chic, but I know that's what many of you do, so don't worry about it. Two exception - Flower Fairies do have nostalgic appeal. I loved them as a kid. And I like vintage science diagrams.

Outside of that, I like most styles. I like bold and intricate; bright and subtle colours (having said that, favourite is purple, followed by burgundy); cute, humorous, whimsical and serious.

Atheist, but have a general interest in religions. I'm fine with religious imagery (of any religion), but don't like preachy.

To date (14/2/08), I haven't seen an ATC in real life, but I reckon I'd like mixed media and texture. Update: I have now. See below for swaps received.

Speaking of dates, I'm European, and I find American short form dates confusing and illogical. European and Australian dates go from small unit to big (14/2/08), Japanese go from big to small (2008-02-14), but American is mixed up and crazy! If a date is relevant, better to use words, though I can cope if the day is > 12 :-)

I'm keen on languages. I speak Spanish and some French, Irish and Japanese, with a few random words in another few random languages.

I also like travel. Most recent trips include New Zealand, Japan and London.

Oh! And penguins! I love penguins! Fond of cats and owls too.

Favorite Crafts

Paper crafts generally, especially card making. I'm getting into knitting and other fibre arts too, like crochet and kumihimo. Oh, and beading, though I'm better at the buying beads part than the completing items part!

You can see some things I've made on Flickr.

Favorite Television

Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Heroes, QI (brilliant quiz show with Stephen Fry), Firefly, Babylon 5.

Favorite Books

Favourite genres are SF and fantasy. I'm a bookcrosser, which has introduced me to many books I wouldn't have read otherwise.

Favourite authors include Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Iain M Banks.

Favourite recent reads include Never Let Me Go, by Kazuo Ishiguro, His Dark Materials trilogy by Phillip Pullman.

Favorite Music

In my CD player right now are Regina Spektor, Emiliana Torrini, Missy Higgins, Spanish chart music from 2002 and an album called Denim from a Japanese singer I forget the name of. I hadn't realised till now how international that is.

Comment: Lovely charms, nut and thanks for the extra beads and origami fish. (Fish seem to be becoming a personal symbol for me. I keep getting them somehow). Interesting. The bookmark is great too. E.
Response: Could be because people know you like oceans? That's why I gave it to you. (thanks for the edit)

Comment: Thay came! What a clever way to cushion the charms! I love them, and the Book Thong, too! Thanks! Cyn
Response: Thanks for the rating. My first ever! I can't claim credit for the cushioning - charms arrived for me before I sent mine, and I reused the padding from that.

Whoops, sorry for the misunderstanding! The font on the River Tam card is called "Beyond Wonderland" and is on the same website, though I can't remember where it was found.

Jamnj on Mar 16, 2008:

thanks for pointing that out re st pats cards==i had edited the date and forgot to change the ending--done now. lol

orcasong on Mar 1, 2008:

I completely agree with your rant on dates! :) Being an American, I think a lot of our ways are pretty whacky - like the refusal to use metric.

Looking forward to sending to you for the Firefly/Serenity ATC swap!
