I'm just your average stay at home caregiver whose 'child' is her elderly mother! No, this job isn't for everyone, and yes, sanity is overrated.
I love to quilt, everything from postcards and doll quilts to king size. Check my Flickr photostream for a sampling of my last couple years of quilting (and a few gratuitous pics of my cats).
My philosophy of quilting: I tell people that I make quilts to be used, not just to be stored away somewhere looking pretty. Snuggle in it, make blankie-caves out of it, have a picnic on it; curl up with a book and a mug of something and get pet hair and cookie crumbs on it; let it be a comfort when you're sick and dry your tears on it when you cry. Use it and wear it out and love it to death so I can make you another one!
When not quilting I read like a maniac and enjoy being outdoors. My hubby and I go camping whenever we can and love to ride quads on the Oregon dunes. I enjoy birdwatching and wildllife watching, walking instead of hiking, and taking lots of pictures.
Thanks to my guy, I also watch NASCAR and Formula 1 racing, go to car shows, and wish I had a car I could drag race. We've been married since 1998, and have lots of nieces and nephews whom we enjoy often and in small doses. :)
Note: I AM DEATHLY ALLERGIC TO CHOCOLATE!
My playlist has enough songs to play continuously without repeats for three days. There's everything from Fats Waller to Three Days Grace to Kenny Chesney in there.
I love the blues best, but also enjoy upbeat young country, rock 'n roll, pop, the alternative music where they actually sing instead of tear up their throats, and even early rap like the Fresh Prince. I also adore swing music, both the old stuff like Louis Jordan and Benny Goodman to the new stuff like Indigo Swing and Lavay Smith.
As long as the vocalists actually sing and the music's got good energy, I like it.
