Don't let the fact that their lives are shorter than ours stop you if you can get around the allergy thing. Yes I am sensitive to loss too but I have learned the hard way that we can only count on the moment and it is better to love with abandon and risk loss because if we don't we are not complete. I know I will most likely see my pets go before I do, but I believe that giving of yourself and knowing the pain of loss only shows the great capacity of the heart.
We would lose so much if we held back for fear of losing it. Trust me I know. I lost my husband but I would do it all the same even knowing I would lose him at so young an age because I can say, and know for certain,
