I live in Kansas City, MO. I work as a Registered Veterinary Technician at a feline only practice and I am working towards a specialty certification in feline medicine. As you may have guessed, I absolutely love cats and keeping them healthy and happy!
I have two cats named Louie and Winnipeg. They are my babies. My life would be radically different if cats did not exist. I live with my wonderful fiance together with the cats in our first house, bought last summer.
We like to collect mid century housewares and decor and to decorate our house in an interesting style. We are big on norweigan, swedish, finnish, basically all scandinavian design from the 50's - 70's. We collect housewares, studio pottery, art, and knick knacks. I also love vintage ephemera and books. My favorites are TIME books on different subjects and vintage knitting and crafting books.
My favorite hobby is knitting. I love to knit for other people. I also weave occasionally on my loom. I would like to start scrapbooking but not in a conventional way - I would call it more collage oriented or "junkbooking".
I also participate in an international postcard swap called Postcrossing. I really like to send things to people all over the world. My fiance and I like to go camping and take weekend trips and go see art museums and great architecture. I have always wanted to swap packages with new people and give them happy surprises!
As an aside, I prefer coffee over tea but really love both honestly. My favorite scents are lavender and pine.
I guess you could call me a messy scrapbooker. I'm looking to get more into organizing my memories and pieces of things into a cohesive book that doesn't look like a traditional scrap book, I'd love to start a zine someday. I live in Kansas City and our local small business, restaurants, and everything is really bourgeoning right now. I think it's great and I love it here.
Among other things, I run an Etsy shop called Hopeless Vintage Housewares selling retro and mid century housewares. I like to listen to records on vinyl - my fiancee has over 4,000 records - and I also weave and sew - but not all that well! Like I said I like to make things a lot but I am always looking for new crafts and I would love to learn more from someone about what they are interested and what they do.
I love to treasure hunt by going to local thrift stores and yard sales and estate sales. Usually I travel when I go to veterinary medicine conferences and when I get to I try to take advantage of it and scout out thrift shops and other local things that I think might be fun.
I love astronomy and to stargaze. I also like to collect pictures, scraps, and little souvenirs and put them into albums. I think even a crumpled post it note found on the ground from a stranger with a grocery list is a treasure and is intriguing. I appreciate art very much and used to paint an draw.
I love to learn new crafts.
My favorite art is folk art. I love Norwiegan and Swedish and Finnish art and Inuit art. Anything pop art is also a favorite. I love to watch Antiques Roadshow and to watch lots of old movies. My favorite actor is Donald Sutherland!
I'm a Leo (zodiac) and I love the colors red, orange, brown, lavender, and charcoal grey.
I love to meet and know people from all walks of life and to interact with them. That is why I am here. I love the interactions and care that goes in to giving something to someone in another place far away. I think it's such a great thing for us all to exchange our likes and ideas.
I like all kinds of music except country and most hip hop. I love post punk and shoegaze music but also love pop. British music is some of my favorite.
Sonic Youth, Pavement, Stone Roses, Guided by Voices, Jawbreaker, Husker Du, Mudhoney, Depeche Mode, Sebadoh, Mission of Burma, Sparks, Dinosaur Jr., The Breeders, The Pixies, The Cure, ELO, Orchestral Manoevers in the Dark, David Bowie, Brian Eno, The Human League, The Band, Bob Dylan, The Byrds, The Smiths, Scott Walker, Kate Bush, Gary Neuman, Karen Dalton, Galaxie 500, Swervedriver, Kraftwerk, Joy Division, New Order, Beach House, and many others. I also have a strange affinity for pop music like Maroon 5. I like a lot of post punk, music from the 70s, 80s, 90s.
I read mostly feline medicine journals and veterinary textbooks. I don't read very much non-fiction. I like books about the history of Kansas City and I like books with lots of pictures - like coffee books, etc. I LOVE vintage crafting/knitting books and also vintage TIME books.
Beetlejuice, Children of Men, ANYTHING with Donald Sutherland, Blade Runner, Fargo, Muppets movies, anything directed by Robert Altman, Drive, Antiques roadshow, Rosemary's Baby, The Descent, lots of obscure movies and movies from the 60s and 70s, good horror films. I also love a good bleak film, something sad. Old films from Criterion Collection are great too.
I LOVE The Leftovers, Twin Peaks, X Files, the Simpsons, Fargo, Mad Men, Carnivale, Deadwood, The League, Seinfeld, Last Week with John Oliver, True Detective, The Man in the High Tower, Mr. Show with Bob and David, Kids in the Hall, Black Books, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, My Cat from Hell, Nova. I watch a lot of PBS also.

I love it! You are so sweet! I'm still learning the ins and outs of all this and I wondered how people got cool pictures on the side of their profile! :)
Hi! I am sending to you in the "Fill My Stocking - January" swap, and while browsing your profile for ideas I noticed your messages were all empty, so I thought I'd brighten it up with a bit of vintage New Year's cheer! Happy New Year!
