NOTE TO EVERYONE!!! MY ACCOUNT WAS BEING USED WHILE I WAS TAKING A BREAK FROM SWAP-BOT. ANY SWAPS WITH A SIGN-UP DEADLINE AFTER MARCH 31ST, I DID NOT JOIN. WHOEVER IT IS WAS EVEN APOLOGIZING FOR NOT SENDING BUT STILL NOT SENDING. I THINK I HAVE FIGURED OUT WHO IT IS SINCE THEY DIDN'T CHANGE MY ADDRESS SO IT NARROWS IT DOWN, BUT I'M SO SORRY TO EVERYONE AFFECTED AND I'LL SEND STUFF FOR ANYONE WHO IS MISSING STUFF ASAP.
Hey! I'm Samantha. I'm 23 and from Salem, Oregon, USA. I'll fine tune this better once I get settled in and figure out how I really want to do this, but until then, I'll give you the basics.
I've had ongoing pen pals for 12 years now. My longest pen pal is still going strong and we are coming up on 9 years. I will never let my love of getting things in the mail die. I don't care if the cost of postage skyrockets. I love the feeling of getting something in the mail that has nothing to do with bills, school, or any other unsightly mail. For me it is like a kid in a candy store. I love it more than a fat kid loves cake.
This is my first endeavor on a swap site. I've done swap-like things with my current pals, writing a continual journal, passing it between my foreign friends and back, trading stationary, making collages for each other, hand made post cards, hand made cards, I've even made the paper I've written a letter on. (What can I say, I'm from Oregon. Land of the tree-hugging, uber-liberal, crazy-recycling hippies.) Okay so maybe not that drastic, but I have hugged trees.
I've commonly been called the jack of all trades. I like to dip my feet in things and then my ADHD kicks in. My conversations can take a turn at the drop of a hat, you never know what you're going to get when it comes to me.
Community is my nature. I'm on the board of directors for a local non-profit organization, I volunteer whenever I get the chance, I get fired up for elections. I have my opinions about voting, but my biggest one is to get people out to vote, no matter what they are voting for, everyone's voice should be heard.
Hmm, likes...I like long walks on the beach...cough ok for real...I'm eclectic in my tastes. I like anime, manga, art, photography(LOVE), writing, reading, the smell of a new book, dancing in the rain, TRAVEL, being a really awesome dork, being outside, working with my hands, music that makes me feel something, violin, accidental art, cooking, creating kitchen magic, did I mention travel? =], languages, fonts, computer graphics, calligraphy, learning the story about something that I would have normally found to be mundane or boring, meeting new people, texting, learning, and most of all, I love to laugh.
I feel as if there should be a separate paragraph for this. I love to learn. I enjoy pals from different contries for many reasons, but I love learning about different cultures. I read everything from joke shorts to encyclopedias. I do this for fun. I collect old books, classics, as much as I love getting a new book, having an old book with a story, a book where I can see the pages a person loved by how worn it is, footnotes each person writes, and so forth.
I'll probably add or change pieces of this as I go along. Hope you enjoy reading about me.
ta ta for now.
I said before, music that makes me feel. Mostly alternative, rock-ish, or pop-rock type. I don't ever know how to describe my music tastes because I like a lot of everything. I'll get a new CD, be obsessed with it, and go on. I do not always determine whether I like or dislike music based on the genre. Gangster rap is not my thing though. I even listen to folk/filk.
some examples of bands I listen to: Eminem, Panic! at the Disco, Fall out Boy, New Found Glory, Taking Back Sunday, Alanis Morissette, Meredith Brooks, Bjork, Mercedes Lackey, Heather Alexander(now Alexander James Adams), Leslie Fish, TMR, Simple Plan, Buckcherry, Saving Abel, Papa Roach, Tantric, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, Joe Nichols, Florence + the Machine, and so much more
I could go on forever about books, so I will give a short deal...
Terry Goodkind, J.D. Robb, Robert Jordan, Danielle Steele, Anne Rice, Charlotte Bronte, Charles Dickens, Ernest Hemingway, C.S. Lewis, J.K. Rowling, J.R.R. Tolkein, Harper Lee, Jane Goodall, Charlaine Harris, and that is just off the top of my head.
The Princess Bride, Court Jester, 10 Things I Hate About You, Cutting Edge, Harry Potter, Inception, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Spirited Away, Nausicaa, Ghost in the Shell, Akira, Spice World(not afraid to admit it), Old Olsen Twin movies(guilty pleasure from my childhood), Labyrinth, Neverending Story
Glee, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, House, Gilmore Girls, Facts of Life, Laverne and Shirly, Full House, Saved by the Bell, One Tree Hill, Office, Intervention, Man vs. Food, Ace of Cakes, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, I Love Lucy, Three's Company, Freaks and Geeks, True Blood, Stargate SG-1, anime not popular in US
I haven't swapped a lot, so if something you have seems to fit stuff I like but isn't on my list, go ahead and send it, I can be wrong sometimes Anyway, here is a list of things I can think of that I'd like to get: -keys. I collect keys. key necklaces, key art, random keys (not normal looking keys, those are too boring)
