I love to find extraordinary uses for everyday things. I am fascinated by containers: the materials they are made of, how they are constructed, the proportions. I am a big fan of texture, so fuzzy wuzzy was me!! I am a member at postcrossing dot com, the internationsl postcard exchange site. It's fascinating to get mail from all over the world (I learned about Macua which I had never even heard of before). I love corresponding the old-fashioned way - there is nothing better than getting sincere sentiments in the mail! Other favorite things: squirrels, the color aqua, retro fonts, re-purposing, bulls, stationery, 80's pop culture, funky t-shirts, vintage finds, mid-century modern design, sarcasm or irony.
I listen to mostly indie rock like The Decemberists, Rilo Kiley, and Arcade Fire. And I confess that while they are not technically a band, you will catch me singing Flight of the Conchords tunes most days. Bowies in - spaaaace.
Sex Lives of Cannibals is the funniest non-fiction book I have ever read (I bubuti you your flip-flops). I love anything by Dave Eggers, David Sedaris, Melissa Bank, or Mo Willems. I appreciate poems and short fiction. I am a big time sucker for those "America's Best of" anthologies and can read them over and over.
Any of Michel Gondry's films, so "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" and "The Science of Sleep" are fantastic. What an imagination! I love the style of Wes Anderson films. The best movie I saw this year was "Black Snake Moan". My favorite movies from my childhood are "Pee Wee's Big Adventure" and "The Goonies".
I like my movies more serious and my TV funny. So favorite TV shows are: Flight of the Conchords, 30 Rock, The Office, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Daily Show, Colbert Report, and Minor Accomplishments of Jackie Woodman. And, yes, I am totally hooked on Lost and can't wait to find out what happens!
I like creating stationery and paper crafts. Lately I have been experimenting with stitching and needle and thread, so I am teaching myself to sew. I love felt and wool and vintage fabrics best. One of thesee days I will work up the courage to use the sewing machine.
