I'm a translator & textile artist living in north-east Scotland My favourites are pretty variedfrom Jim Reeves through Mozart to Radiohead - see what I mean? If I had to choose just one it would to be Fleetwood Mac's 70s album 'Rumours'
My favourite books are all vintage detective fiction: Christie, Sayers, Marsh, Allingham. What do you know, they're all women!!! Purely co-incidental, honestly.
It's a Wonderful Life; Holiday Inn; Groundhog Day; Les Nuits de la Pleine Lune
Anything with a detective in it!
Patchwork and quilting; knitting; embroidery; ATCs. I've been knitting since I was 7 and tend to knit with my right needle tucked under my arm - just like Grandma did. I love to knit lots of cable and traditional designs, but I also like to knit to felt, especially bags - I'm also about to try some felted socks in lovely Noro wools.
My quilting likes are varied- I love traditional designs, especially American block designs, but I also get a kick out of quirky contemporary models too. For me it's the colours - I love reds and deep pinks, combinations of purples, greens and yellows or oranges and reds/yellows. As you might have guessed, I'm not a great pastel girl! Oh, and Idon't like blue - I have a lot of blue in my stash, but that's mostly for making things for friends, who all seem to love blue!
I also love to read and look at my garden (not at the same time!) I stitch to the sound of talking books (more Agatha Christie or Donna Leon for preference), I knit whilst watching tv and I love to bake for friends. I am a confirmed Tea Jenny, I am not considered compos mentis before my second cup of the day. And I am very fussy about my tea- tea first, milk second; black tea should be strong (that teaspoon should be able to stand up in it); perfumed teas & smoked should have no milk, that said, I don't actually like smoked teas; all fruit teas except grapefruit. We're so lucky here, with great specialist tea shops and I had a fantastic summer trip to Paris where I went to the temple of tea, Marriage Freres, and had the most wonderful fruit tea (some of which I'd love to share).
Dislikes: scented candles; anything 'cute'; animal prints or pictures; blue; candies; no jewellery - brings me out in a rash!

Your birthday gift to me was wonderful and if I could work out how to leave you a bunch of flowers here as I have seen on other profils I would. I'm not Scottish even with my name, I got that from DH who is. I'm a little English and a little Irish from my families parst, now all Kiwi. Hugs and I hope we swap again but next time the other way round :-)
