NOTE: I take swaps very seriously and always send them out on time. If you didn't receive a swap from me, please let me know and I'll take care of it immediately. Sometimes the mail just doesn't get through. I try to put tracking on all my swap packages. Thanks.
I am married to my best friend (36 years in June 2017), who is retired (disabled) after having a stroke. I have been retired for 4 years and am loving it. My husband and I do lots of activities together.
I live on a small northern Maryland farm and train/show miniature horses.
I love gardening - corn, lettuce, beets, tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, and sweet potatoes.
I also like doing home improvement projects like laying tile, painting, drywall, etc. I renovated 2 bathrooms and did the plumbing and tile work myself. We just finished renovating the kitchen. I also enjoy sewing and craft projects.
Favorite shows: Lucifer, Project Runway, Judge Judy, and anything on HGTV or DIYnet. I'm also watching the Cooking Channel and trying to figure out how to cook.
I also watch the Ravens football games with my husband.
GO RAVENS - SUPERBOWL CHAMPIONS
I like to listen to country music and current Pop music.
I just finished reading "The Glass Castle". Loved the way the author got herself out of a bad situation.
I also read "The War Horse". It's so sad what happens to innocent people and animals during a war.
I don't go to the movies anymore. The last one I went to see was a Cheech and Chong movie. The smoke was so bad that I had to leave. I like to watch movies on tv when I have time. I really enjoyed "Julie and Julia". Almost made me want to cook - almost. Saw "Secretariat" and loved it. Favorite movies: National Velvet, The World of Suzie Wong, While You Were Sleeping, Back To School, and all those sappy Christmas movies on the Hallmark channel.
I have a sewing machine, serger, and embroidery machine. I love all kinds of crafts but especially sewing. I make my own clothes, costumes for my animals, and gifts.
I always plant a garden in the spring and it survives in spite of me. This year I planted corn, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, beets, carrots, cucumbers, and sugar snap peas. Thanks to the horses, I have an endless supply of composted manure.
I've have 8 American Girl dolls and love to make clothes for them. I belong to a wonderful swap group call Adventures in American Girl Dolls run by Karen Owen @Karenmomofthree . We set up challenges and have so much fun swapping outfits and ideas. What a talented group of ladies!!
LOVE: Any color is good. If you make me something, I will love it no matter what color it is. I love sewing challenges, anything horsey, the smell of leather, and Chihuahuas. I am teaching myself how to cook. It's a very slow process so I am either a bad teacher or a slow student. I've almost mastered fancy swirls on cupcakes. Also, I can make spicy meatballs in a crockpot - for parties. That's about it.
HATE: I hate noisy kids on planes and in restaurants, cigarette smoke, bloody gross stuff, and movies with unhappy endings.
I have a 7 year old female Chihuahua named Sweetpea that my husband bought for me at a yard sale. She runs the house.
I also have 4 miniature horses that I show in local shows, parades, and charity performances. They keep me healthy because I have to clean the stalls and groom them every day. I also trim their hooves every 6 weeks. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't get any exercise at all.
Oh, and I have 3 barn cats - all rescue.

You are so kind to think of me.
Carol, thank you for your thoughtful card. I am almost healed. We were fortunate we didn't get snow that amounted to anything. It melted as as as it hit the ground.
What can I say? I had a wonderful surprise in my mailbox today. You made me an adorable outfit for my twin boy doll. You went way over the top to do this for me. Thank you so very much. Happy AG swapping. Shirley
Thank you for your friendship. I am so thankful for it today.
