I love to get mail and send mail! Among friends and family, I'm well known for hand-drawing or painting our Christmas cards each year. I limit myself to 80, because beyond that it becomes dreaded work.
I have always been a good pen pal starting with new friends I met in camps growing up. I'm one of those people who goes to the post office to buy the really interesting stamps instead of the regular roll of flag stamps.
As an artist, I love to have new inspiration cross my desk from time to time. Anything fine art to crafty to creative writing really helps me stay motivated. I love inspirational quotes. Especially those that remind me to sleep more.
I love to travel. Been to 5 continents and 13 countries, and 49 of the US states so far. All kinds of transportation. Love the NYC Subway and trains. Love to be on an airplane with the anticipation of landing somewhere new. I love maps and finding out-of-the-way locations. I think my passport will be buried with me in my grave. It's my most prized possession.
When I'm at home, my stress-relievers are watering my plants outside, prepping vegetables, and organizing my finances. House-flipping TV shows and reading about nutrition are my favorite pass-times.
I subscribe to WAY TOO MANY magazines.
I am a dedicated public library user.
And I love chairs. I have old beach chairs hanging on the wall in my house. I like to be resourceful with what I already have, being proud that I can make something beautiful out of nothing, that way, if something happens to it, it didn't cost much. BUT... I'm sadly finding the more work I put into rescuing something, the more sentimental I get about it. LOL. What a conundrum!
I don't have any kids. Never got into Hello Kitty and such. However, I used to work in Walt Disney World, so I have a good affinity for the classic Disney characters. Pooh was my favorite as a kid. As an adult... Kermit the Frog is my favorite. What a good attitude he always has!And I love everything Wendy from Peter Pan.
I'm your mainstream Christian. I listen to Christian music on my 45-minute commute every morning and night. Matt Maher is my favorite these days.
Tea is for me. Coffee from time to time. But tea makes me tick. Started when I was living with a girl from Scotland one summer - Tracy. She was a hoot! Then I found specialty tea shops in NYC when I lived there, and I'm such a tea snob now I prefer to make my own tea bag combinations from loose tea. I especially like high mountain green teas from Taiwan and China. I prefer Asian teas to British tea; seems like a bigger variety. Herbal tea is okay. No chai or jasmine teas though. I got Coconut Mango Stash tea in a swap recently, and I love how it smells of whiskey to me! LOL.
I am a middle child of three girls. I'm the one with the curly hair, and my sisters got the straight hair. Somehow I always got the worst seat in the car on trips. Boo.
I LOVE MATH. One huge regret in life was that I attended a small in-state school instead of trying to get into a big-time school like MIT after high school. I realized a lifelong goal when I attended a week-long class at MIT in summer 2014 -- I even stayed in the non-air conditioned dorm rooms!
At age 43, I just married in October 2017 for the first time to a wonderful man named Matt who doesn't roll his eyes when I talk about the swaps I am in. He's my golden ticket.
