Can this be mailed?
Swap Coordinator:Johkup (contact)

Location:International
Type:Type 3: Package or craft
Last day to signup/drop:October 1, 2013
Date items must be sent by:October 15, 2013
Number of swap partners:1
Description:

We all know that postcards and envelopes can be mailed, right, but in this swap you will send your partner something that was made with no intention to be sent in the mail.

Examples: - Cd covers - Tennisball - Food packaging - Fabric - Some wooden thing - A book - Cutting board - Flip flop - Hat - Socks. Sky is the limit!

Anything that wasn't supposed to be adressed and stamped and sent. But make sure stamps won't drop during the long trip thru mail.

The thing you send can be sent as a postcard or as an envelope - the main rule is that the adress has to be written directly on the thing and you don't wrap it into something else before you send it. The stamp should also be directly on this thing. Write a small note telling which swap this is for, and maybe also why you chose this thing (why is not necessary).

The thing you send also has to fit into a regular mail box!

Newbies are welcome with filled out profiles. No recent, unexplained 1's or 3's - other than that no requirements :)

Be creative and have fun swapping!

I got this great swap idea from @efjellro who hosted this in one group I'm in. I'm glad I got to host this too :)

FYI, most odd shaped mail must be sent as "non-machinable", which amounts to package rate. If it's flat and bendy, and fits in the postal slots (they have a tester for that) they can go as a postcard or envelope, but anything else is non-machinable. I'm a "naked-mail-er" from way back. lol

...also...International may not work for this type of swap--I'm not sure, but the post office should be able to tell you. I've only swapped them in the US. and, in the US also, no liquids, breakable items, or hazardous materials.

I've always wanted to do this. My mom used to send me weird things in the mail all the time when I was away for the summer when I was a kid. This is going to be so much fun!

I would suggest making this USA only because I know that this type of thing wouldn't go through the UK postal service, and probably others too.

Johkup 09/14/2013 #

This is international because I'm not from USA. And here in Finland we don't have different rates for non-machinable mail... And @Eleora this shovel came from UK and similar item went to UK with no problems! This swap has been made internationally before.

This reminds me a lot like when my friend tried to send me a banana in the post... She just stuck on a stamp and wrote on my address. I'm quite disappointed that it did not get to me...

Just tried to send my item, $10 for shipping because it's international. So I'm going back out shopping to find something super slim & tiny. I say definitely make it regional only next time.

pne 10/ 5/2013 #

@xcraftyx but you wouldn't be allowed into a "Regional - Finland one".

All swaps here are optional :) I know international swaps are expensive but I host international because my country is small... and I'm not from USA.
