Description:

I am a washi addict and have TONS of washi to share, so let's do! This is for washi tape only, not deco tape. This is also a USA ONLY swap, so please DO NOT JOIN if you are not in the USA. :)

For this swap you will:

-Have ONE partner to send to. -Send 5 UNIQUE samples of washi. -Each sample will be at least 6 inches long. -Wrap your washi sample around a nonstick item like a pencil, wooden spool or notecard "laminated" with packing tape.

CLARIFICATION: Each sample needs to be a different pattern or color; 5 different colors of chevron is fine, 5 patterns all in pink are fine too, as are 5 different patterns in 5 different colors--as long as each sample is different, you are good to go! :)

MAKE SURE your sample is at least 6 inches long. If they are 5 inches long, your partner can rate you a 3, so keep an eye on that! You can, of course, make your samples bigger--who knows, it may earn you a heart from a lovely partner. ;)

IMPORTANT NOTE: I have opened this to unrated swappers, so if you are a newbie with a washi stash, you are welcome to join WITH A WELL-FILLED OUT PROFILE. If you are questioning what well-filled out profile means, please view mine as an example. :) I am opening this to 4.8 and higher, but I will be checking for unexplained 1s and 3s in the recent past!

Since this is an easy peasy swap with just one partner, I'm really trusting no one will flake! But if the unthinkable happens, I am happy to angel after a proper rating has been given.

EASY PEASY! This is a great little swap to beef up your type 3 swap number, just make sure you fulfill the requirements as posted and ask questions if need be!

Alright, let's get to swapping! :)

how can you tell the difference between waShi tape and deco tape?

I do Know there is the duct tape and tape that large but the smalleR tapes, how can we tell you if they are washi?

Ambelleina 10/17/2013 #

@fawnscrafts Washi tape is low tack and made out of rice paper.

Deco tape is higher tack and made out of plastic.

If it looks like a very thin, matte masking tape, it's likely washi. If it's shiny plastic, it's deco. Washi is more gearing towards papercrafting and deco is better for sealing envelopes and the like.

Tapefitti is an example of deco tape. Scotch brand now makes a washi tape that is sold in Target called "Expressions." :)

I've never done this before so I don't understand what you mean by "laminated with packing tape". If I were to wrap the washi tape around a pencil and then put a piece of clear/packing tape around it, I would think that would make the washi tape difficult to remove from the pencil. Wouldn't a thin rubber band around the pencil be better?

Sooooo..... Scotch "Expressions" Washi Tape is Ok to send? Because that's the only kind I have. I'm new to this whole washi tape thing.

Thank you for explaining. Dollar stores are now carrying the washi tapes too.

@SusieQ730 When I said "a nonstick item like a pencil, wooden spool or notecard "laminated" with packing tape," the notecard laminated with packing tape is a separate suggestion, :)

And yes, Scotch Expressions is washi and find to send! <3

Ahh... Gotcha. I misunderstood :)

If you do not receive your washi samples, please wait the appropriate amount of time, rate your partner a 1 and PM me letting me know your partner's name so I can angel! <3

I am moving in the next 30 days, but I will be doing another one of these swaps in January, so be on the lookout! ^_^
