Description:

It's spring! I mean, the calendar tells me it's spring, but it snowed here in western Michigan just a few days ago. Yes...at the end of April. Anyway, I'm definitely in the mood for spring, so I want to make and receive a spring-themed small (2.5x4 inches) altered rolo. Please join me in making a beautiful homage to warmer weather, chirping birds, and beautiful flowers.

Whete can I get a 2.5 x 4 rolo? Mine are 3x4.

I make my own...using an old rolodex card as a template. I don't think the height matters too much; as long as the notches fit a standard rolodex.

So the holes are the same as the ones on a standard sized then? I don't have any old or new 2.5x4..don't want to send the wrong thing!

You won't believe this, I'm cleaning my house for a move, and I found a whole stack of this size rolo that had never been opened. Went to an old basket I had! So, I'm in!!

It’s a real struggle to find Rolodex cards here in Australia. Can’t even buy a Rolodex...

Ros, cut your own out of used manila file folders or heavy cardstock. I do! I cut them 4 inches wide and 2.5 inches high (you can add lace trim, or whatever to the tops; the height isn't a big deal at all. Use one that you've received in a swap to mark the correct placement for the holes, and use a regular hole punch to punch out circular openings, then cut slits in the cardstock, making an opening for any rololdex. If you don't have a rolodex, use a photo box from the craft store and cut chopsticks to the proper length of the box. Glue the chopsticks in place so you can put your altered rolo holes over the chopsticks. This is what I've done; it holds more rolos and is more secure than an actual rolodex.
