Description:

This will be the easiest Card you have ever made! I love this technique You will want to do everything this way! 😃

REVERSE STENCILING Gather your supplies: Glossy cardstock for your stenciled background (glossy gives the best and brightest results), 3-4 colors of ink pads - Blending brushes, foam sponge; Stencil - any nice design will be perfect. Black inkpad.

DIRECTIONS: Ink your card background with your inks. Be sure to use at least 3 colors. You may sponge them on, put on direct to paper, or use blending brushes. Cover the whole card. Best results are if the colors are saturated. When your ink is dry, Place your stencil over the card - sometimes it helps to secure your card and stencil with a little washi. Using your black ink pad and a blending brush, blend your black ink over the whole stencil. Make sure the black ink is completely covering the stencil on the card, and the are no colors showing under the black. Remove stencil.

Voila! A beautiful reverse stencil 😃 If wanted, add small sentiment (NOT generic ie: birthday, get well, etc). You may add a stamped/die cut image to the front as well, but please DO Not cover your beautiful stenciling... let the stenciling be the focal point of your card. Wasn’t that easy?

Add swap info to the back of your ATC - name of swap, Your name, date, title if you have one, SB ID. Include a short note to your partner letting them know how you found this technique. Send off to your partner, with proper postage, of course! Extras are optional, as always.

Have fun with it...use colors that blend nicely and don't "muddy" when put together.

Posted: 3/16/26 - I can't believe I have to say this , but, please do not repost for your own group swaps. Thank you. (Yes, some people steal swap ideas without asking if okay)

Image above is an ATC I made.
