Um.. why does one need any postage at all for an electronic swap (as this swap is categorized)?

Oh noooooooo I forgot to fill that part out.So I guess by default it just popped up.This is a snail mail swap.So sorry For the confussion..

I never put a .44 cent stamp on a postcard unless it is a fabric postcard. A 5 x7 postcard is more? I think I will check that website as you may be right, although it is just a .15 difference. Post office prices are just amazing;

I have been sending out the larger postcards, that are 5x7.When I went to the post office,I was told to put letter postage on it. That was for mailing with in the USA. It always a good idea to check the website. Since I have a post office box, for swapping I stop in often. Happy Swapping and Thanks for stopping by :)

I have a pc I made for a special occasion that was taken from one of my photos can I use than and not pasted photo?

I am not sure what you mean by pasted. If your talking about not putting card stock on your photo.As long as you think your photo is printed on thick enough photo paper.And .that it can handle the postal sorters at the post office without damage.Sure why not,use it.

OR,If you are talking about photo shopping one of your photo's by pasteing,That also will be fine to use. I am not sure what you mean/

Yep, in the US, to qualify for postcard rate the item has to be under 4.25 x 6.25, and under a certain thickness. Whether or not yours gets tagged as 'postage due' seems to depend on the whim of someone somewhere along the line! (i've sent many fabric PCs as standard postcard, until a window clerk told me I needed more b/c of the thickness)

camelsamba I had the same problem, it all depends on who checks what anymore. I have sent both ways and put them in clear envies which did require a first class stamp. I personally don't mind having to pay a few cents on a card or letter if it comes postage due. But don't use that as an excuse to do that to me. :)

I make these kind of cards all the time to send to nursing home residents, etc. and what I do is to have my picture and on the back of it, I used doubled sided tape [the little squares you peel and stick] ...

Anyways, what I use instead of cardstock is 4 x 6" index cards [the blank ones of course.] Sometimes I have a tiny bit to trim when I get the back on but it's not a whole lot.

Is easier to me because the size is already cut for me. : )

Je3nnelle I have used index cards also and that works. Yup, shellsajerseygirl you are right. For a few pennies more why take the chance.

I like to use laminate for photo postcards, makes them durable but does cost more to mail, I put blank labels on non-photo side to address and write message. For sure, you have to do something (backing, laminate, etc.) to protect photo going through the mail or it risks getting ruined!

lou...I often wanted to do the same myself.I have no issue with that.I would wait to see if your partner will mind or not.It,s a great way to save your postcard from damage.I cannot see any reason a partner would object.If I am your partner I would be thrilled.HAPPY SWAPPING :)

I have sent and received lots of home made photos cards Not laminated and all arrive OK. :-)

I had one sent to me with clear packaging tape over it to "protect" it and it make it ugly :-(

I have had them arrive in a clear celophane bag and then they can be removed and all is OK ;-)

Not sure about laminating it though, the heat could damage thew photo!

Just FYI, heat lamination doesn't damage photos. I've laminated lots of photos and never had problems. :-)

Mailing out from the US, all international postcards are 98 cents, if they're normal weight, accept Canada. Canada is either 80 cents or 88, I can't remember which. But postcards mailed from the US to anywhere else in the US are now 29 cents. That's just for regular size. I'm not sure about the 5 by 7 ones.

Ginger..For the USA,The 5x7 cards are the same as a first class letter 44 cents.Now the thickness of the card could be more.This is why it is a good idea not to use anything thicker than an index card.Yes the 4x6 is now 29 cents.went up a penny in April. I go to the post office often to check my postage on my swaps.I always make sure I have my envelopes weighed before I send them on their way.

Canada and Mexico are 80 cents from the US

all other countries are 98 cents

Laminating..... I have used both heated & the non heated laminating machine. So far so good. If someone was to laminate with a true laminating machine.If it is done correct, in my experience will produce a clear protected card. I agree the tape would be ugly, with out a doubt.And what a shame if used on a really nice photo.
