I am so excited to join Swap-Bot. Although I have been trading for years on other platforms and events, I was excited to swap here as soon as I heard about it. So, thanks for having me and agreeing to trade snail mail. I moved to New York State a year ago. Before that, I was on the West Coast for 10 years. I am currently trying to fall in love with the East Coast. I miss WA State terribly. My children are mostly grown. I have 3, with the youngest being my 14 year old son Gabe. I have been married for 22 years. We have a dog, and my daughters' dogs are here, too, as they just recently moved back home. *Renfield is my 1-year-old Merle Frenchie. He makes me laugh every day. He is so silly and likes to test his boundaries. *Daisy is my 20-year-old daughter Chloe's dog. She is a 1-year-old Dalmatian. Even though we butted heads at first, she has become my buddy over the past few months. She has her own theme song, and sometimes I call her lumberjack because she forgets she is a large dog Calcifer is my 22-year-old daughter Hailey's dog, a 7-year-old Pomeranian. He is cute and snuggly but also a very anxious little dog. He is having difficulty fitting in with the rest of the brood. * Morla is a four-year-old tortoise. Four years later, we are still trying to determine whether it is male or female. Morla is as big as a basketball, loves dandelions and hibiscus flowers, and eats huge salads.
I love to read horror books, mostly about ghosts. Darcy Coates is my favorite Author, and I have many of her books. I like to read Anatomy Books. Books about Botany and insects. I am currently readying H.P Lovecraft's book of short stories. It's a book my husband recommended. It's different from my usual read. I also love reading Simone St James. My favorite St James book is The Broken Girls. I recently read The Bell Jar after seeing so many female actresses and characters reading it in some of my favorite shows. I don't get the hype. I found it a little dull and predictable. While reading it, I unintentionally redecorated my room to match the colors of the cover. It felt odd when I realized it, but I like my room now. I am also a fan of popup books and vintage children's books. My favorite popup book is an elaborate collector book from The Walking Dead.
My family loves watching movies and going to AMC whenever we can. One of my favorite things to do is watch movies in chronological order. My favorite to watch this way is the Aliens trilogy. The movie makes so much more sense this way, and it's a super fun binge. Some of my favorite movies I can repeatedly rewatch are Beetlejuice, Gremlins, Elvira, Coraline, and more. 11/16- I went to see Venom in the theater. My husband gave me a lesson on Venom while we watched. I didn't realize how sad Eddie's story is. The movie was okay. It was funny in parts and makes you a little sad in others. I'm honestly sick of seeing Marvel movies, but overall, it was a fun watch. 9/16 My husband and I went to see Beetlejuice 2. Being a huge fan of the first one, I could have been more impressed with the second one. I didn't understand why Tim Burton chose that storyline. It didn't have that original feeling to me, and it seemed like a lot of it was unnecessary to the plot. I absolutely love Winona Ryder, though, and I will fangirl over anything she is in.
I am a little embarrassed to admit how much TV I watch. From 9 p.m. until I go to sleep, I get caught up on my favorite shows. Some days, it's the thing I look forward to most. I am waiting for the new season of Yellow Jackets to be released. I grew up with Christina Ricci and have always felt I related to her and the characters she chose to play. Maybe not her character on yellow jackets so much. Besides YJ, I've been watching all the Walking Dead spin-offs, From and Alone. My favorite shows are Gilmore Girls, Bates Motel, Charmed, Dexter, The Amazing Race, and Hemlock Grove.
I have always been into art and crafting. For an extended period, I was pretty full of crocheting. I went from selling my handmade things at craft shows to selling at comic cons and oddity markets. It was a fun experience; I made great friends and got really good at my craft. It wasn't profitable, though, and it really hurt the hands after some time. I gave that up and started mostly just crafting for myself. After putting away the crochet hook, I have really gotten into paper crafts. I enjoy paper crafts such as junk journaling, collages, ATC, and making memroydex. I love shopping estate sales for vintage ephemera and giving those items a new life in my projects. I love to layer projects and use a multitude of mixed media.
I am a born collector. I've always had small collections of tiny things and have always felt joy in finding items for my collections in odd places or for a great price. I started collecting Uranium glass a couple of years ago and have a cabinet full of it with a black light inside that I periodically turn on to admire my collection. I love to show my mom my new items when I see her. She only visits once a year. My husband bought me my first piece when I turned 40. It is a large, kitschy jar with a green lid that reads cookies on the front. *I collect postcards from all of my travels for myself and to trade with others. It's a cheap way to have memories of road trips; some are even fun to display as small art prints on the wall. I love any postcards to add to my collection. The weirder, the better. Vulgar or inappropriate cards make me laugh. I wouldn't say I like religious cards, but I love photos of old churches. A small paragraph on the back with your trip details makes them even better. *I make a collect ATC. I have loved every Artist Trading Card I have received so far, no matter how artistic or elaborate. I can tell by looking at them all that whoever made them enjoyed it immensely, which makes me happy. I keep them organized in an old cassette tape cabinet tucked into the cassette tape cases. *Since I was a child, I have collected E.T. and Beetlejuice items. People still gift me items to this day. I'm always happy to receive one of these items or something related to this theme. *I have an old printer drawer shelf that I am filling with tiny oddities. So far, I have tiny wet specimens, bones, curiosities, and small art pieces. I still have room and continue to collect.
