I deleted all social media accounts because they didn’t seem to have a good impact on either democracy or me. But I crave connection and I realized it's hard in real life - and felt a bit disconnected once I deleted my profiles. I am in my 40s and live with my husband and 2 cats.
Don’t feel you need to send extras. I am here to connect and make art.
How I spend my time: I work in management at a museum. I care about my job and museums as institutions. In general I spend time on my interests: nature, art, birdwatching, drawing, sketch books, embroidery, and Postcrossing. I like to go camping, canoe and generally to hang out and look for things in the woods.
My cats are named for characters in a very funny book written by my favorite author of Comics/Graphic novels (Neil Gaiman) and another favorite author (Terry Pratchett).
I like literary fiction, speculative fiction, and graphic novels. My favorite graphic novel at the moment is an adaptation of Octavia Butler's the Parable of the Sower that came out.
The best book I read recently was by Warren Ellis: "Nina Simone's Gum". Seriously. Trust it.
Animals who are RIDICULOUSLY cute or weird. Examples:
In general- unusually small things.
Alliums (shallots, onions, leeks, garlic - they make me sick.)
Polarization. I don’t hate you if you don’t vote like me. I don’t hate you if our countries don't get along.
Swarms. They creep me out.
When someone tries to convert me. I respect your deeply held beliefs, even if I don't want to join you in them. Please respect mine.
I am woefully behind on everything. We're going to have to finally subscribe to Netflex and take a sabbatical to catch up.
I have enjoyed:
A strange smattering of things:
