BLG- Butterfly Profile Deco- July!

I have chosen the Oregon State butterfly, the Oregon Swallowtail. A true native of the Northwest, the Oregon Swallowtail is at home in the lower sagebrush canyons of the Columbia River and its tributaries, including the Snake River drainage. This strikingly beautiful butterfly, predominantly yellow, is a wary, strong flier not easily captured. In 1976, it became one of the first four butterflies that the United States Postal Service placed on a postage stamp. The Swallowtail reproduces twice a year, and can be seen flying from April to September. The butterflies seen toward the beginning of the year are lighter in color than those seen later and blend well with the color of early plants.

The butterfly that I have picked for this month is the Pearl Crescent butterfly. It's habitat range in Canada is from the Yukon to here in Newfoundland. I see this butterfly in lots of open fields with plentiful wild flowers and sitting on small puddles in my driveway! I hop eyou enjoy the images that I chosen!! Have a great day! MichelleGG

♦ I sent these for this swap "APDG ~ Favorite Quotes MEGA SWAP!" today. I think I will make a record like this every time so I can resend if I do not get rated in a timely manner.

I found these while looking for material for a recent swap I hosted

and thought them suitable in the circumstances.

I found this today.

And last of all, an old favorite.

.

I hope you enjoy these.

APDG ~ Share Your State!

Welcome to the state of Connecticut! One of the original 13 Colonies, it has a rich history. There's not a lot to do around here because its so small, but I still love it here.

Home to one of the oldest colleges in the country, the Ivy League school of Yale, located in New Haven, CT.

Also located in New Haven is this lighthouse, but we have a ton of them all along our coast.

We also have a few beautiful beaches along the shore.

And I can't forget about our main attraction, Lake Compounce. It's an amusement park maybe half the size of the average Six Flags. One of the better rides there is called Boulder Dash, which is a roller coaster that uses the natural terrain of the mountain side that the tracks run through.

I love my state of Connecticut!

APDG ~ Share Your State! From Btbeth.
The following is a series of pictures that show some of the places in the State of New Hampshire that are beautiful and most of them are very local to me. I will tell you a bit about each one, and how close they are to my actual house.
This is Diana's Bath. A waterfall about 7 miles or so from my house.

This is Cranmore, where modern day skiing was popularized by Hannes Schneider, and also was one of the first ski mountains to have a motorized lift system in place. This pic is taken from the train station (see below) and is about 2 miles from my house, as you drive.

This is the Conway Scenic Railroad. This train was one of the first in the nation to incorporate the Polar Express into an interactive story-ride. The station is only about a mile or so from my house, but the tracks roll about a quarter mile, and I hear the whistles many times a day.

The below pic is of the local amusement park, StoryLand. Most of us locals cut our baby teeth on rides at this park. My grandfather actually helped to build the very first motor for the Pirate Ship ride (see 2nd pic). He lived on the coast of Maine for his whole life so its neat to bring my grandbabies here and tell them how their great-great grand pappie helped make the ride. The park is only about 10 minutes from my house.

This last picture is of Mount Washington taken from the road in front of the train station. It takes about 20 minutes to get to the base, and is one of the most popular places in the state for hikers. People come from around the world to challenge themselves on Tuckerman's Ravine.
