NOTE 01/22/11: There are two old unfinished swaps listed in my "Currently In" section. I got behind and had to leave SB due to some health issues. When I came back, I made up everything that was possible to make up. While the items for the two unsent swaps are complete and boxed, I've been unable to get a reply from my partners or coordinators (or admin) so that I can send them.
I ALWAYS mail my swaps out on time (barring some big life interference), so if you haven't received something from me, please let me know so I can resend before giving me a poor rating.
Unless I need stamps or have to mail a larger package, I mail things (postcards, etc.) by dropping them in the outgoing mail box outside my apartment building. I mark things sent once they have left my hands. They may, of course, not be picked up until the next day (or Monday if it's a weekend) by the USPS.
I rate for everything I receive, usually the day it's received. If I have not rated you, it means that I haven't gotten anything from you. Feel free to message me if you are concerned about this.
On a similar note, I would appreciate it if you would take the time to rate me if I've sent to you for a swap. It really does not take more than 30 seconds to do, and it's just courteous.
I'm a 23-year-old who loves to travel, read, and paint.
I just started working at a local record store and it is AWESOME.
I really love music and play guitar and sing. I'd love to get back into performing.
I'm an amateur photographer - still more interested in using film than in digital photography. I've been playing around with Lomography for a few years now and really enjoying it.
I'm also an amateur knitter, taught by my grandmother. I'm teaching myself to sew now too.
I love foreign languages and speak German, French, and am just learning Portuguese.
I cook and bake a lot and enjoy trying out new vegan recipes.
My favorite place in the entire world is New York City. Close second is Germany. Now I like Seattle and Portland lots too!
I live in South Carolina (but I'm a Pennsylvanian) with my yorkie (Chrissy), two sweet little mice (Sergeant Squeakers & Dr. Gregory Mouse), and an insane feline (Oliver) who has no sense of self control. :)
William Fitzsimmons, Ted Leo & the Pharmacists, Radiohead, The Verve, Richard Ashcroft, Aqualung, Nicole Atkins & the Sea, Margot And The Nuclear So And So's, Belle & Sebastian, DEVO, The Old Ceremony, Sportfreunde Stiller, Salt & Samovar, The Cure, The Proclaimers, Damien Rice, Vetiver, Ben Folds, Spoon, The Flaming Lips, Talking Heads, The Smiths, XTC, Perry Como, The Shins, Astrud Gilberto, Sigur Ros, Tears for Fears, Queen, Ray LaMontagne, Sergio Mendes, Clem Snide, Violent Femmes, Echo & the Bunnymen, Andrew Bird, T.Rex, The Birthday Party, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Grinderman, Beanpole, TacocaT, Nick Drake, David Bowie, Jeff Buckley, Iron & Wine, Sufjan Stevens, Johnny Cash, Rufus Wainwright, St. Vincent, The Polyphonic Spree, Modest Mouse, Coldplay, Duran Duran, etc!
If you want to know more about my music taste, you can browse my little record collection here.
Garden State, Otis, Cruel Intentions, The Interpreter, The Jacket, The Devil's Advocate, The Prestige, Delicatessen, The City of Lost Chilren, Gamera, Godzilla, Fantastic Mr. Fox, etc.
I really like movies that make me think. I'm also a fan of scary movies, but I have a habit of watching them and really freaking myself out. The Strangers pretty much ruined my life forever. :)
Gilmore Girls, Will & Grace, Futurama, Arrested Development, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Modern Family, Scrubs, Father Ted, House, Flight of the Conchords, Law & Order:SVU, Pete & Pete, Futurama, The Big Bang Theory, The Mighty Boosh, True Blood, Carnivà le, The IT Crowd, Black Books, Good Eats, and old Nickelodeon cartoons that were on during my childhood.
Colors: Black, Red, Aqua, Green
I like Victorian style things as well as modern and bright colored things. My living room in my house is very modern in red/white/black, and my bedroom furniture is all stuff I found at thrift stores or that people in my building were getting rid of in green/aqua/blue.
I'm a total nerd for the German language. Or any language. I like learning new things!
I generally love anything that has to do with nature. Not a fan of spiders - please, please, if at all avoidable, do not send me spider-themed things. They will freak me out big time.
I collect postcards and pressed pennies, and am always up for a private swap on them. So don't hesitate to ask!
I enjoy things that are odd, kitschy, "different", and just plain strange. I'm not easily offended by pretty much anything (except racial and religious slurs - booooo), so feel free to send me taboo things.
I eat a vegan diet and only use vegan products - don't have any allergies or anything, just a moral preference. So please, nothing with meat, milk, cheese, eggs, honey, gelatin, beeswax, or lanolin. And also please no leather/feathers/fur/wool. Sorry - I know I'm picky!
I'm a huge fan of the show Mystery Science Theater 3000 and love all the cheesy old sci-fi movies.
I love Nikola Tesla! He was an awesome scientist! If you do not believe me, please read this. I am pretty much obsessed.
If you're still lost, here's a random list:
* foreign coins/bills
* seahorses, birds, bunnies, koalas, otters, foxes
* good thrift store finds
* Godzilla and/or Gamera
* dandelions (puffy kind, not the yellow flower)
* old photographs, buttons, and trinkets
* tea (black teas are my favorite)
* blue buffalo plaid
* art deco
* New York City/Coney Island
* Andy Warhol
* weird, odd, kitschy things
I've gotten some awesome address labels from some swappers on here. I'm always able to use more, though! I'm not good at stuff like that on the computer, even though I hear "it's really easy!"
If anybody has a place to get Pickles the Frog stuff near them, let me know. I love Pickles, and would love some stationary, which I will gladly reimburse you for or trade you something you want that I can get.
My absolute huge longshot, dream wish would be to get a deck of tarot cards (handmade) that look like (or are based on/inspired by, for the cards not shown) the deck in the title sequence of the show "Carnivale". You can watch the clip here. They are the most beautiful ones I've ever seen! This would be a big project and I'd be forever indebted, but...I said it was a huge wish. I'm just not creative/talented enough in the art department to whip a set up.
I'm crazy about "Le Pen" pens in all colors. I tend to pick them up (at Papyrus stores) when I travel. Unfortunately, my small dog has turned to grabbing things - especially pens and markers - off of side tables when she feels she's not getting enough attention. So I go through a lot of pens. :)
I'd really love to receive some postcards of all the weird roadside attractions that are hiding out around the country!
I'm always interested in trying new products from Lush, so if you have (vegan) samples or products you didn't like, I'll gladly take them! :)
I use film for my Lomo cameras (35mm and 120 - color 120 is a bitch to get here, although I can get lots of the Lomo licensed 35mm films) and am always glad to have more of that. I also still have a Polaroid instant camera, but am not able to get film here for it. So if anybody wants to do a private swap...hooray!
There's a link to my Etsy Favorites list up at the top of the page. I tryyyy to keep it updated, but can't always be on top of that. If something on it reads as "sold out" and it's soap or something like that, odds are the seller has created another listing for it in their shop. I just don't have time to switch to the new listing each time something like that sells out. But one-of-a-kind things, I will try to delete if they're gone.
Remember, these are just super hard-to-find wishes for me, not demands. Please don't think I'm super picky or will be let down if somebody doesn't go out of their way to make sure I get these things! :)
