Meet the Viceroy. Not the prettiest nor most colorful butterfly but it is the state butterfly of Kentucky.
Though it looks much like a Monarch there are distinct differences. Viceroys do not migrate. They overwinter as 1st or 2nd instar larvae, rolled up in a leaf of their host plant (willow or poplar).
Viceroys also have a distinctive black line across their postmedian hind wing.
A Viceroy's flight is faster and more erratic. Not at all like the Monarch's "flap, flap, glide" pattern.

The butterfly that I have picked for this month is the Pearl Crescent butterfly. It's habitat range in Canada is from the Yukon to here in Newfoundland. I see this butterfly in lots of open fields with plentiful wild flowers and sitting on small puddles in my driveway! I hop eyou enjoy the images that I chosen!! Have a great day!

I don't recall what paper I used to write my recommendations on, but it most likely came from La Papierre on Etsy. I figured you probably had seen all the Netflix stuff I recommended. I'm pretty boring when it comes to t.v. habits. I'm usually so busy with my hands and focusing my attention on them, that I rarely watch t.v.; I just listen to it. I only like to try out new shows if I know I can pay full attention to them; which is rare. I've been pretty depressed lately, so I did manage to take in Season 1 of "Bordertown" on Hulu this past weekend. Yes, it's another cartoon. LOL
Happy belated birthday! I just wanted to stop by and thank you for my birthday package. Let me tell you that I demolished those banana chips immediately. I'm dangerous around banana chips. I will never have to buy baker's twine again. I was so stoked to have every color now. The gummy bear stickers are adorable. The journal and post-its are much appreciated as well. It was so nice of you to think of me.
I found something at a checkout lane that had your name written all over it. I don't want to send that alone. I think I have an idea of something to make you. I think I'll start on it today after I go to the dentist and get a face full of novocaine. Fun times.
