About Me

Please make sure my last name (not my username) is clear on the envelope above my address.

I’m an Aussie, living in Berlin, Germany. I am in my 40s. I read a lot, mainly fiction but also some informative books on a wide range of themes. With books, I like to have one German book and one English book on the go. My German language skills are good enough for work, and general getting by, but I really am lazy with it. I like cutting pictures out of magazines and sticking them in books to make new journaling pages. I used to enjoy playing bingo with my late grandmother, I have a nostalgia for it now, but nowhere seems to host it. I love flowers, household plants and learning about their benefits. I am learning about what plants from the weed variety are actually edible, like dandilion or nettle. I made some dried stinging nettle capsules for the Winter, they have a lot of vitamins and minerals. I enjoy taking holidays and look forward to exploring Europe more. I am quite happy with my own company and never seem to run out of things to do.

I am not religious, but I do not mind if you are.

I love cat related things - especially black cats. I also love starlings and blackbirds. Ferns, pheasants, carnations, snowdrops, oak trees, nature, dried/pressed flowers. I'm always pleased to receive memo papers, stickers (adult), notecards, stationery papers, washi tapes, unused postcards that are not of a city. No colouring postcards please.

I would love to receive anything with the common blackbird on it. It is my favourite garden bird. Also anything with hares or bees.

Favourite Season: all - They all have their good points. Favourite Colours: all but particularly mauve, forest green, minty green, gold and silver

Favorite Crafts

I'll try anything, I did begin to crochet a cardigan, but am not having a lot of motivation as I've restarted it 3 times already. I also learned how to knit colour-work socks - see Stoneknits on Etsy - but not how to make the threads not tangle and therefore they're mostly too tight. I enjoy cooking and will often cook something new from a recipe book or online, but generally it should have a picture so I know what it should look like!

Currently sewing a dress at a weekly sewing class, I'm making good progress - It helps to have a teacher at hand.

I enjoy my junk journaling and making collages. I'd love to get letter stickers! But not number stickers. Interesting magazine/newspaper cut outs, dicuts, things I can use in a junk journal. Anything cat related, floral, nature, pretty.

Favorite Books

Cold comfort farm - Stella Gibbons. My Struggle (series) - Karl Ove Knausgård Anastasia (series) - Vladimir Megre Flames - Robbie Arnott Though a Glass Darkly - Karleen Koen Village Diary - Miss Read Old 1950s book about cosy, village life.

Favorite Movies

Indie films! Suggest some from your country please! I generally will not watch Hollywood films, including Disney. I can no longer tolerate violence or to be honest, sex-scenes. I do not see how it really enhances a film. Subtle and not in-your-face is always better. TruthStreamMedia on YouTube is always a favourite.

Likes & Dislikes

If the swap does not require extras, you do not have to send any. Otherwise, I am happy to receive any notecards, notepapers/memopapers, letter sets! I am quite open minded and am happy to read your happy moments as well as your not so happy.

I would not like to receive food items. I do not need or want disney, hollywood, religious, manga items. I am not particularly interested in American tourist/city postcards unless it's cute, illustrated or written on or to do with the swap "not my city" for example. Strictly NOTHING even slightly perfumed please!!

Thank you! :)

Temporary

Tea: black, peppermint, fennel, chamomile, I don't really like green tea or orange/fruity.

3 Rating

I have already sent @Irys 5-6 postcards to make up for the honest mistake, they should arive within the next 2-3 weeks. I love Swap-Bot and I am sorry for the mistake. She originally rated a 5, so that is why my comment says that. Stand at: 16.02.2024.

Comment: This was such a fun letter to read. The calendar page was perfect! Your travels sound amazing. I hope they go well. I've heard about the biggest things in Australia and would love to visit them someday. I plan on ordering some of their recent maxicard series of the biggest things. Thank you for the cute postcards, too.

Comment: This is a lovely spider, not a scary one (I'm not afraid of European spiders but I would probably freak out in Australia ! Why does everything wants to kill you there ?) Also I love the color purple so this one was perfect and it has arrived in one piece ! I think that's it for today, but I hope I'll see you soon in my mailbox :)

Comment: Yaaay received it exactly on my birthday :) Lucky did gave me a huge birthday hug, how does he know ? No idea ! But he's extra cute today ! We don't have a big culture of sauna here in France, it's not something we often do and it's more of a super special kind of thing, but I really need a day at the sauna + massage etc ! Thank you for the happy mail and I saw that I received something else from you so I'll be back ahah

Comment: Omg the Spreewaldgurkenreiseclub is hilarious! Yes proofreading is part of my job since the institution publishes a lot of texts. I haven't been to any of these cities because I've never really been to France. The book you mentioned sounds interesting, I should check it out because I eat too much sugar and I wish I could quit. I'm addicted. I recently read ultra-processed people, if you don't know that I would also recommend it.
Response: Thank you so much for the book recommendation, I will add it to my list :) Glad you liked the Spreewald card, we went there last year and we still have jars of Gurkens in the cupboard!

Comment: I absolutely adore how your page turned out - including that you took the time to scan and print the images of your own writing implements, how cool! And I love the mail-love squirrel especially :)
Response: Thank you! I am pleased the journal swaps are there.. I need the creative outlet. The squirrel must have had a Valentine's letter :)

Comment: I loved your letter and what a wonderful idea to use my country as the base of the letter. Not bad since you have never been to New Zealand. I did mine from near where you are living now . I enjoyed this swap and especially reading your letter. Blessings.
Response: I am so happy that you liked the letter, I am always unsure about the historical letters, but I love the challenge of them. Glad I got a few things right :)

Comment: Oh wow, I love the idea of drawing your own map! That is so creative and makes the page so much more personal. I also like the drawing of the woman a lot! The way you combined all the scavenger items looks really great :) Thanks for sharing your amazing journal page with me.
Response: Thank you! I hope you stay in these swaps regularly, and I like the new format where we all get to see. Thank you for the rating!

Comment: Thank you for your envelope, and I'm very sorry for rating 3, but your envelope didn't meet the posted swap requirements. It was type 3 swap: Package or craft, minimum weight of envelope was 1 OZ (28 gr), but your envelope was so small (20 g) with notepapers. It was profile-based swap. I'm very upset with it.
Response: I thank you for the kindness of rating a 5 and wish you all the best with your life.

Comment: Fun postcard, even the back, with the swimming washi and cute stamps. Schadenfreude is a fairly well known term in the US - I love that in German one word sums up this very human feeling. I wish for you that one day your 6 word memoir comes true!

Comment: It does feel like we're pen pals ! I'm always happy to receive your mails ! We don't have Tedi near Marseille, but we have so many other cheap store like that, and yes they should make letter set instead of all their memo pads ! "Life is weird" your grumpy grandmother was absolutely 100% right ! I'll try to answer the rest of your letter in my next swap to you, but thanks for sharing ! I love everything you sent !
Response: Great, because I matched with you in another swap and so you'll get that from me soon. Glad you liked everything!
