Response: thanks so much for your kind note. in answer to your question, i glued some rice paper down over part of the page and painted over all of it except the little "window" to the japanese writing. i then painted several layers over it with various acrylic paints to give it lots of texture, added more bits of rice and other papers and painted over that again for even more texture. then just glued on the buddah and other goodies, and ribbon "hanger". i'm so glad you like it! it's kind of fun to see the "before" and "after" when doing these recycled sorts of swaps. i'm kicking myself now for not scanning or photographing it. do you mind posting a shot of it? betsy wants to see it (she's in our swap). :)
