Description:

I see many swaps out there for washi tape and many rules that go along with that.

Some people only want/use actual washi. Some of us just don't have actual washi or can't find it or think they have found it but it isn't real. Therefore, joining swaps named "washi" can be difficult and you may be asked to resend something that you simply just do not have and thought you did.

For those who do not care if it is actual washi and love all types of tape (washi, fake washi, plastic, glitter, etc), this swap is FOR YOU! (and me, that's why I've made this swap!). So pull out all that tape you didn't think anyone else wanted because you can use it in this swap!

If it sticks, it does the trick!

Specifics:

  • one partner (if you want more than one, post in comments, I would love a private swap!)
  • you will send 10 different tape samples, minimum 18 inches each (remember, ANY kind of tape!)
  • stick tape on something it won't remain stuck to! ex. playing card, gift card, sticker paper, etc. You may also send on a roll, as long as there is the minimum 18 inches (or more!) remaining.
  • Decorate your envelope in some way with decorative tape! Doesn't have to be a lot. Just some... but if you want to a lot, then that is fun too! If you just want to tape the seal, that's fine!

Please note, if you only want to receive washi tape, you likely won't get it. There is no special requests here. Sorry...

Rate a 5 if you get at least 10 different tapes and some sort of tape on your envelope. A heart is up to you!

Lastly, newbies (and all who join) will be reviewed. If I drop you from the swap, I will message you as to why and I may even offer we do a private swap. :)

thank you for having this swap. I have real, washi tape and the decorative kind also. If it is cool in design or color I have it. Some of the cutest designs come from Dollar Tree.

I have deco tape as well from various stores. You can have a great design, and it's not washi! I enjoy these various deco tape swaps. Thanks again!

I love your swap write-up @guinstar I love washi tape, but agree - it can be confusing sometimes with "what is and what isn't washi tape." But I also agree, that ALL TAPE is decorative and can be used to make things pretty (cards, envelopes, planners, etc. :)

I think the issue with some of the pretty tapes is that they don't come off the playing card nicely when wrapped as a sample. But they are just fine when they come straight off the roll! Might be a good idea to swap these as full rolls or partially used rolls :)

Love this swap - but - not sure if I have 10 different tapes -- I wonder- are the wide packing tapes included in this swap - or -- just the regular width tape.. (like, 1/2 in - 3/4 inch)

@charophyta yes, the lesser quality tapes sometimes peel up the card design on the first two wraps around a playing card. To remedy this, clear packing tape should be used to cover the card, front & back. This should help alleviate that. It will also alleviate the cheaper tapes pulling up the card design. I find, too, that using cards made in China are usually the culprit here. Playing cards made in the USA are made a little better and the tape never peels up the card design. Lastly, if one doesn't want to cover a card with packing tape, then they should include some extra tape length to compensate for the first part that won't be usable because it sticks to the card.

This is from a gal who has been buying and swapping tape here on swap-bot for at least 5 years. I've seen a lot of different tapes! :)

Ahhh @ArtyBeth3 I was thinking more of the dollar store tapes that get creased where they fold around the edge of the card. The better washi tapes are more flexible and won't crease when folded around the card.

@slamophile sorry I didn't see your message before, any width! As long as it is decorative! :)
