QNT blossom blocks

4-518 thru 4-27-18

--one partner to receive 4 different blossom blocks

--4 matching blocks to keep for yourself

Fabric should be 100% cotton, and this round we will be making pastel print blossoms. All blocks will have white or tone-on-tone white backgrounds.

PRECUT your fabric

CAREFULLY cut eight 3 inch X 3-inch squares of each of your four-different pastel print petal fabrics.

Cut 32 two-inch white squares.

Prep work:

With a pencil Draw a diagonal line (on the wrong side of the fabric) from the upper left-hand corner to the lower right-hand corner of each white square.

Begin assembly.

  1. Right sides together pin one white square to the upper right-hand corner of each of the print squares

  2. Stitch on the drawn line and cut ΒΌ-inch away from seam then press open.

Repeat these steps with all 4 different sets of print fabrics for your partner and 4 for yourself.

Stitch the 4 pairs together as one flower. You will end up with 4 individual flowers to mail, and 4 different flowers for you to keep.

Do NOT stitch the 4 different flowers together. They will be separate when we mail them so our partners can arrange the flowers as they see fit. We will not be making the stems or leaves.

Questions and concerns are welcome, please post below or PM me.

Next month we will do POLKA DOT flowers.

June: purple prints

July: star prints

August: 2 yellow prints and 2 aqua/teal/turquoise prints

September: blue prints

October: fall prints or orange prints

November: sender’s choice

December: red prints

Should the 4 be sewn together or not? Your instructions say both things.

"Stitch the 4 pairs together as one flower...... Do NOT stitch the 4 different flowers together."

HeideC 03/17/2018 #

Oh nevermind....I get it now....4 pairs = 1 flower. 4 flowers = what we are to send.

I am slow this early in the day

you are perfectly fine @HeideC ....thank you for clarifying for everyone else that might have been confused as well.

swap-on!

perkl8r, in order for this to come out as pictured, you need to use 3X3 inch squares, not 4 1/2 X 3 as your instructions say! There is no way you can sew it together if it is 4 1/2 X3

Thank you @HeideC for investing your time and talents in helping to get this block instruction to something that will actually come together right.

Last night both @HeideC and I whipped up some of these blocks. She made her blocks 3x3 and I made mine 4x3 but I like the results she came up with much better so we changed the size of the print squares to 3x3.

This is really a very easy block to make, and I am sorry for my previous instructions being wrong.

I hope this does not turn you off from the swap because the little flowers are very cute when finished.

Thank you again @HeideC for all your help!

I have to say these are very easy to make! Just be sure to iron seams open and square up before sewing the pieces together.

These are so stinkin' cute when made with the same fabric line! I don't know if I can give them up!

yes they are cute
