Hello! I'm glad you've taken the time to look at my profile. I found Swap-Bot accidentally while searching for ATC supplies online, and I have been swapping here since 2007. I love the way this site does not restrict swaps to one form or one media. I love trying new crafts and Swap-Bot has allowed me to see the work of many upcoming artists, in several media. I am always open to private swaps, just send me a message!
My hobbies include reading, cooking, gardening and crafting. I love taking photos and am rarely without my camera. I am also an avid reader and usually go through 3-4 books a week and 2-3 books on tape. I am also taking classes at a local community college to earn a degree in Business Management.
I love yard sales and go to the flea market every Wednesday morning. I love rooting through the stuff and finding those amazing treasures!
My favorite colors are soft purples, greens and blues. I do NOT like strident or neon colors. I like soft floral scents or scents like fresh rain, ocean breeze or clean linen. I do not like heavy earthy scents or the smell of vanilla.
My favorite flowers are lilacs, lilly of the valley and lavender. I love the spring when all the flowers begin to bloom and I bring masses of them into the house to savor the scent.
This is my baby!
My current favorite TV shows are Storage Wars (the prices they put on things are totally unrealistic!), Texas Flip and Move (totally scripted but weirdly fascinating....) and RV Life. I would love to buy a Class A and tour the country after I retire. (Alas, the gas milage is a killer) I also love BBC TV, especially Hamish Macbeth, Jeeves & Wooster, Doc Martin, All Creatures Great and Small, and of course, Dr. Who.
Looking for black and white cotton fabric, fat quarter size or larger.
Miniature metal figures from old board games.(I buy old games at the thriftstore just for these)
Lego people or animals.
Twinkling H2O paints (if you come across these I would love to swap for them!)
Anything with Goldfish or Koi on it.
Small hamsa charms
Anything with a cute motif of dragons, owls, hedgehogs, peacocks or mermaids.
Cotton fabric quarters or half quarters
Quilting and sewing!
Matchboxes, filled and decorated!
ATCs: collaged and handdrawn!
I love to read and read 3-4 books a week, as well as listening to 2-3 books on tape while I work and on my drive to and from work. My favorite author is Anne McCaffrey. Sadly, she is not writing any longer, but her son Todd has begun to continue her most popular series, "The Dragonriders of Pern". I also love the books of Alexander McCall Smith, his sense of irony really strikes a chord with me. I like a lot of Mercedes Lackey's books, her retelling of classic fairy tales is wonderful. Terry Pratchett is also a favorite, I love his "Discworld" series and the spinoffs. I also like Kerry Greenwood's "Phryne Fischer" series, which has just started to be republished in the US. Give me a good story and good laugh and I will be happy.
Please contact me if I have not rated for a swap you sent to me.
If you are in the USA, I send almost everything except letter size envelopes with tracking.
Great Goddess, whose voice I hear in the wind, who breathes the breath of life to Her children, Hear Me; I need your strength and wisdom. I seek strength, not to be greater than others, but to fight my greatest enemy, the doubts within myself. Make me wise so that I may understand the things you teach your people and my ears sharp to hear your voice.
Help me to remain calm and strong in the face of all that comes toward me. Help me seek pure thoughts and act with the intention of helping others. Help me find compassion and walk in beauty. Let me learn the lessons you have hidden in every leaf and rock and respect the things you have made.
Make my eyes ever behold the sunset that comes before the beauty of night. Make me always ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes, so when life fades, as the fading sunset, my spirit may come to you without shame.
In the universe, there are things that are known and things that are unknown, and in between there are doors.
~ William Blake
Ideals are like the stars: we never reach them, but like the mariners of the sea, we chart our course by them.
~ Carl Schurz
There is a judge. There is justice in this world. One day you will receive what you have earned.
~ Jim Butcher
The span of someone's life is only the core of their actual existence. No one is finally dead until the ripples they cause in the world die away - until the clock he wound up winds down, until the wine she made has finished its ferment, until the crop they plant is harvested.
~ Terry Pratchett
Nothing is too wonderful to be true.
~ Michael Faraday
It is not the length of life, but the depth of life.
~Ralph Waldo Emerson
There is no timetable for happiness;
it moves according to rules of it's own.
When I was a boy I thought I'd be happy tomorrow,
as a young man I thought it would be next week;
last month I thought it would be never.
Today, I know it is now.
Each of us has at least one person
who thinks that our manifest faults are worth ignoring;
I have found mine,
and I am content.
~Alexander McCall Smith
