Anyone who signs up for this swap, should glance at a few websites about sending to prisoners... as well as reading the swap description very carefully! There are a lot of rules to follow!

Joey's full name and booking number should also be included on the card or letter you send, not just the envelope.

Also keep in mind that the envelope will probably be thrown away before it gets to Joey.

And... DO NOT use your home address!! If you have a PO Box, that's best. Otherwise, just don't put a return address on anything... but be sure to remember to write your swap-bot name on the card, to make sure you get credit for the swap!! :)

I do not think this is an appropriate swap, and I've spoken out against many similar before this one. If anything, it should be a RAK, and people should be informed and smart about this...

It's important to understand that most jail and prison systems track, in their RMS, anyone who sends mail, and you may very well be listed as 'associated with inmate.' This may not seem like an issue to most, but it depends on HIS charges as well as your field. If you ever need a deep and detailed background check, and you're associated with an inmate, that could just look bad, as well intentioned as you are. Again, depends on your field. For me, it's a big deal, especially not knowing his charges ... anyone who sends him mail, are we now associated with someone who's a drug trafficker or someone who didn't show up to court for an unpaid moving violation?

I think it's also important to ask what he's been charged with. If someone is in jail or prison for theft, that's less severe than rape, aggravated assault, trafficking - know who you're associated with, people!

Be smart about this!! I myself will NOT be writing to JCraze, and I would encourage most to stay away from this or at least do some research and make an informed decision - most info. can be found right online as it is public record. Be diligent.

P.S. Plenty of good people go to jail, plenty of bad people go to jail and turn it all around... but that doesn't mean we should blindly get involved, esp. when we are giving out personal info. Remember @GrumpyBear ?? Identity theft, etc.

I couldn't find his charges so I chose to stay away from this RAK. Sorry it has to be that way. My husband looked him up and he also said this is a max security prison. Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not trying to start anything. Good luck.

This person is housed in the maximum security section of a maximum security prison.

I agree with @Bhindblueeyes on this, 100%. You really should give ALL the information when requesting something like this of the community. I fully support helping people out when they are down, but tell us what he is in for BEFORE people get connected to a potential serious criminal.

Hi @LadyCyr , if we send a postcard without our return address, as one would usually send a postcard, will it get to him? Just wondering because of all the rules.

@bblue mail without return addys or incorrectly addressed usually gets returned or destroyed. I've never written a stranger in jail or prison but I have wrote people I've known who were locked up. If it isn't addressed right they wont get it.

OK there are lots of conserns here so let me clear things up.

Joey does get the envelope. He is in max security for safety not because he is a danger. He used to be in a gang he can not be in general population because fans will kill him for not bring in one any more. He is there this time for getting in a fight w a girl. And this is because of a life of drugs. His parrents are both drug adicts. He spent most of his life homeless in fostercare in juvie in jail and in prison. He is a good person or I would never ask this swap. He just graduated highschool and his diploma will be mailed to me soon. He in in anger management. Has gotten clean of drugs and is getting councling. He is getting out in aug. He has an exceptional behavior marred from all his guards and they don't think he should be there. He is very serious about changing his life. He has severed every tie of his past and has a drug free support group on the outside to help him succeed in not going back I am a part of that. He has been abused in every way imaginable from birth by every man ever in his life. His past fought him only defend yourself so he did. Hes never had love or respect or kindness or incouragement. He has grown a lot over the years I've known him and is very very serious about living a good productive life and being a valued contributor to society

Yes you can leave off return address it will still get to him. Any ither questions I would be happy to answer to give you all pease of mind.

I've known him for 5 years both in and out if jail. I used to date his brother. His brotger was able to get out of tge lifestyle avoyr 4 years ago. Now joey wants to do the same. And I know he can since I've seen vast improvement in the past 2 years. He just needs people to believe in him

Joey said to tell you that I was a bit off on why he is there right now. His correction is that he is there due to a pobation violation for defending gimself from his x wife who tried yo kill him and not checking in. He would also like you all to know that he turned himself in because he wanted to make it right amnd get his life straigbtened out hope this helps
