I clicked "watch" so hopefully someone here can tell me what an x-slip is and what you do with it. Thanks!

I just pm'ed Fabriqueen with an explanation of x-slips.

I’m not sure what they are either!! I messaged the coordinator, but she hasn’t gotten back to me yet!! Hopefully soon, cause I’m very intrigued!!! I’m trying new things!!

According to @TerryF who answered this question in 2008:

Exchange slips are small strips of paper that tell you to send a certain number of items to the first person listed. Then you make however many strips are asked for and substitute the person listed in the next section to the first position. You do the same for each person listed after and put your own name on the final position. You then send your strips to other exchange slip (or x-slip) swappers.

The items that are sent to the first person on the strip can be fb's, fs's, stickers, dish towels, recipes, or just about anything that people like to swap.

fb's are friendship books and fs's are friendship sheets.

In this swap we get 2 partners and send each 10-15 peaces of paper. On each paper I write something I would like to get. Do we have to send 10-15 things to each person?

catlingmex 06/ 9/2023 #

Dagmar, I am sending you another private message with more info, but no, you wouldn´t be making 10-15 pieces of paper writing things that you would like. X-slips are usually pieces of paper that you have received previously from ANOTHER SWAPPER.

I´ve been trying (via pm) to help those who are unfamiliar with x-slips to understand what they are, but it´s difficult! Perhaps the swap should be limited to people who already know what they are and how they work? I´d be happy to send (outside of an organized swap) a few slips to anyone who is unfamiliar with them so that they can see and touch them and understand how they work. I wouldn´t need anything in return. However, I do hope that my swap partner knows what to do and that I get actual usual x-slips in exchange for the ones I send for the swap!

Agreed; I´m also happy to send a few x-slips to those who are interested to see how they work. No need to send anything in return =) PM if you are interested.BTW, it is great that people are interested to know what they are, but they are kinda "hard" to explain (at least for me as non-native English speaker LOL).

If you think about it, they are very similar to the “old” style chain letter in the fact that you are sending to the first person and then removing their name and adding yours! @catlingmex has been able to explain it wonderfully to me!!! Very helpful!!!

catlingmex 06/16/2023 #

Rosie2766, I have always assumed that that was the way x-slips began, as chain letters that got smaller and smaller until they became these simple slips!
