Description:

I just saw a few bottle cap pincushions around the Internet and remembered making those! I also do not own a cute pincushion at this very moment. I thought, I make me some of those little cutsies...

But WAIT! There is Swap Bot!

Why not make a swap out of it?

WE will swap one bottle cap pincushion with one partner. Since there is only one to make and you only have one partner, make it a good one!!!! Make one you would like to receive!

You want your partner to use the little gem you make so please check their profile for colour choices (or the thread here, so please post! :D )

Ok, to recap: the COLOUR IS RECEIVERS CHOISE, you make one (1) bottle cap pin cushion for one (1) partner. (use a screw on bottle cap, SIZE IS SENDERS CHOICE!! Remember postage!)

Please put a little note with it! Just say hello and who you are. That way your partner can shower you with thanks and hearts, because you -you brilliant creature- just made the most awesome bottle cap pincushion EVER and shall be called Queen/King for the day!

You have three (3) weeks to make the little treasure, so make it breathtaking!

Right? - Right!

This swap is regional to keep the postage down. If you would like to host an international, or a European version - have at it! Swapping is fun! :D

I found this tutorial for you to use, in case this is the first bottle cap pincushion you want to make!

Now to sew up the loose ends:

No ones in the last 6 months! Period.

No threes in the last 3 months.

Newbies are welcome with a filled out profile. (I will check)

Everybody else please have a rating of 4.5 or higher.

I will check everybody's profile as you sign up! So we should not have a problem with flakers. HOWEVER! (grrrrrr) should you get flaked on, let me know, I will angel.

If you should have a problem, contact me, I am here to help!

Remember KARMA people and send your swaps!!!! It is no fun to get flaked on! I will ban any flakers from any of my future swaps! (and they will be AWESOME! So don't get banned!)

I like BLUE and pink and green. Not necessarily all in one pincushion, but then... it might be fun?

Hanane 07/21/2009 #

Fall colors. If a leaf can turn that color I LIKE IT!!!!!

FOOF4E 07/21/2009 #

kimpe 07/21/2009 #

6 weeks to sign up, wow, i'm putting this on my watchlist, i'll have a ton of swaps out of the way by then and time to give this the attention that it deserves

spin 07/21/2009 #

Good morning everyone! :D

Glad to see so many people love those little things!

@ kimpe; I left so much time to sign up, because I have a bunch to get through too (most is done, I am waiting for the partners to be assigned...but none the less, I want it done so I can concentrate on the pin cushion! :)

Looking forward to swapping!

Hugs!

I added a picture of a pincushion I made today. Just to get back in the groove ;) Not quite as spectacular as some of the ones I have seen around the web, but it's just the first one after -oh-I-don't-know-how-long!

This one is going to be a present for a friend, my swap partner will get one in her/his fav. colours!

I made this one with leftover fabric scraps. The bottom part almost feels like suede leather. I'm not sure what it is though, maybe microfiber? :D love it! and only took about 30 min.

P.S. I use them also to keep my stud earrings organized! :) Just push the little closure all the way up to the top of the stud and stick the end in the little pincushion! Presto!

CandyGirl 07/24/2009 #

Can we use any size bottle cap for this?

CandyGirl 07/24/2009 #

Watching this til closer!

spin 07/24/2009 #

Hello CandyGirl!

I use the caps of the bottles that come in the six packs, or that you get to buy loose, or the liter bottles but no bigger then that.

Hope that helps! :D

I have this on my watchlist. It looks fun!

sunnisandy 07/27/2009 #

This is so very exciting, I make lots of pin cushions but the bottle cap one will be my first, and no I will not let my partner down! :)

spin 07/28/2009 #

So glad you are in this swap, sunnisandy!! :D

I edited the size requirements! It is SENDERS CHOICE for the size, just use a screw on Bottle cap! It still is RECEIVERS CHOICE on the colours! Remeber that!!!!

voranslibrorum 07/28/2009 #

Just look at my profile for colour/pattern ideas!

coolmom45 07/29/2009 #

I can't wait to make one of these. I've wanted to for a while. An autumn themed- or colored would be awesome!

CandyGirl 07/31/2009 #

I love pincushions and dh just laughs when I ooh and aah over them!! Purple of any shade or mixed purples would be my first preference with pink being a very close second! FUN fun fun!!!

spin 07/31/2009 #

YAYYYY! Thanks for joining! :)

AbigailsBoutiqueDesigns 08/ 2/2009 #

orangeAUgirl 08/11/2009 #

I'm a newbie so I'm really excited to get to make and receive something from one of ya'll! I've already made several of these pincushions for friends and they are great. I love the colors aqua, orange, really just anything bright and fun.

homeandheart 08/21/2009 #

Watching~I can only hand sew! These are darling, and I have a feeling, addictive!!!

SistahDeb 08/22/2009 #

This is my first pincushion made using bottle caps, so I did a test run and loving it. I've made atleast 8 pincushions - can't wait to review my partners profile.

Hanane 08/28/2009 #

@coolmom45 I hope I get you sending to me LOL love FALL @homeandheart they are tons of fun and great for hand sewers and addictive

I made one out of a Durkee spice lid for my daughters. In Pink and black. with white ric rac. they needed somewhere besides their book shelf to put their hijab pins. It is made from black felt and the pink is just embroidery. Stuffed with wool to aid in keeping the pins sharp and rust free.

spin 08/28/2009 #

Yes I agree they are great for hand sewing (I have no idea how you would make one with a machine...)So glad so many people like the idea!

Hugs to all of you!

snowqueen1426 09/ 3/2009 #

If you are not sure of what colors for me. Think anything but orange. and that will be safe. TIA

ajquilts 09/ 4/2009 #

When I make these for myself, I add an elastic loop on the bottom - that lets it sit on my index finger when appliqueing or other hand sewing - extremely helpful to add/remove pins! (just a tip - will follow swap/receiver's requests!)

spin 09/ 4/2009 #

That is a great idea!!!! I guess it is up to the individual partners if they want to do that! If you are considering the loop, please make sure to ask your receiver if they want it! I use mine to store my earrings so the loop would be in my way...but for sewing I see how it could be absolutely awesome to have it!

Moontear28 10/ 1/2009 #

I have to say that these little gems are quite addicting to make! I have made a few so far. As for colors for me it's all in my profile but I love red and bright rainbow colors. Anything cheery and loud lol. Not too fond of pastels. ~Janell
