I'll be working on my current swaps and then focusing on art here at home for a while...I've been ignoring some big projects because there's just so many fun things to make here at Swapbot! I check back in regularly though!
Running Update: Today, June 6th, I finished my first half marathon. Thanks for everyone's support and well wishes. I signed up for a 15 K race in July. Gotta keep moving! (I love food too much.)
I just got a new puppy! Her name is Luci and she is a four month old Havanese dog. She joins her brother Scooter, also a havanese, who has been in our family for four years now. I forgot how much work a new puppy is! Gotta run, she's sniffing around the house!!!!
I love to make stuff! I find that I need to create to be happy, no matter what the art or craft form. I surround myself with other fun creative friends who enjoy creating as much as I do. When I am having a tough day, I retreat to my craft room just to be around the things that inspire me.
I love to collect supplies for crafting such as fabric, beads, paper, vintage...I never have enough stuff and I never have enough time to use all this stuff!! I also love to share this bounty with others!
My favorite colors are green and purple and teal and pink (although any bright color is cool), i love ribbons and lace and things that sparkle or look distressed. I like skulls, dogs, sock monkeys, bugs, "grunge", four-leaf clovers, wire, birds (especially cardinals), superheros, anything from the musical "Wicked", coffee, teacups, flowers, dragonflies, ladybugs, butterflies, golf related items, tiny things, shabby chic, metal things, snowmen, fall leaves, fairies, football (Brett Favre is my favorite!), bright colors, bold prints and mixing patterns, fonts, etc. (the more mismatched the better) I love seed beads and natural or semiprecious stones. I am very tactile and want to touch everything i see so the bumpier, fuzzier, shinier the better.
I started running/jogging in January of this year for a half marathon that I finished on June 6th. I am almost 46 years old and have never run/jogged in my life...I have also lost over 30 pounds since the beginning of the year. Why am I telling you this? Certainly not to brag...but to encourage all of us, young and old, to MOVE in some way every day, even if it's just to walk around the house a few times (or park further away at the craft store parking lot). It makes you feel better, it's good for your heart (my mom died of a heart attack), and it's good for your mind and soul. I am living proof that it is never too late to start taking care of your body. You'll reap the benefits!
I love paper crafting (love making atcs and inchies), making scrapbooks, sewing, decoupage, altered book making and jewelry making.. I have enjoyed making (sewing) purses and wallets with all the bright bold prints available in fabric these days. I also like to quilt. I would love to teach crafting classes, especially to folks who may not have confidence in their abilities. I love to see the expression on people's faces when they make something beautiful!
anything Stephanie Plum by Janet Evanovich (any book that makes me laugh and guffaw out loud has gotta be good!)
The Stephanie Meyer Twilight series (my sister lives in Port Angeles..Do you know that they actually have a "twilight" store there?)
I love the Charlaine Harris "Sookie Stackhouse" series and have read them all! I even bought the HBO series "Trueblood" based on these books.
I love crafting books of all sorts and have a growing library. Favorite Magazines are Cloth, Paper, Scissors, and any of the Somerset Studio stuff.
I love The Wedding Singer, Hairspray, Guys and Dolls, Enchanted, Nanny Mcfee, and We Were Soldiers (go figure!)
Favorite TV shows include Glee, Office, 30 Rock, Biggest Loser, Project Runway, and American Idol.
No Straight Lines! and the correlation: No Symmetry!
You fail for sure when you don't even try!
What have you got to lose?
Get over yourself!
I have really enjoyed the wide variety of crafts and things that i can swap on this site! I have learned what dotee dolls are, what fabric charms are, and all kinds of other cool crafts that i didn't even know exist! It's so nice to surround myself with so many talented and creative folks!!
bad grammar and poor spelling!
people who can't laugh at themselves!
high heels and lots of makeup!
It bothers me when I spend so much time making something for a trade and the things I get in return look like they only took 5 minutes to make. This has only happened a few times, but I feel cheated. I only hope that the people who have received my items appreciate them for the time that I put into them. I think they do. I also have found myself including "extras" in a swap to be assured of getting a heart. But I have decided that this defeats the original intention of the heart award. I would like to receive a heart because of the quality of my work rather than the "extras" thus I may not include them in our swaps. I don't expect the "extras" in the swaps that I receive and will give hearts based on your work (I almost always give hearts!)
