Found some really neat cards at POST OFFICE, trouble is they're big. Can I cut them down so that they fit in most albums better?

GTstamper 07/23/2009 #

Swap is for August 1-3. knitmom7 - I suppose you could cut them down if you wanted.... it's up to you. Your partners may like a bigger sized postcard for a change? :-)

estromberg 07/24/2009 #

knitmom7! Don't cut them down. I definitely like a bigger card sometimes!! E :)

knitmom7 07/26/2009 #

OK! Works for me. I put my cards in 4x6 album so the big cards drive me nuttier than I am.

KarenFife 07/28/2009 #

I like big postcards!

Kristipye 07/29/2009 #

Me, too!

My first swapon swap-bot...I'm so excited!

Isabel 07/30/2009 #

I dont understand "naked" that means to write on them or not ???

GTstamper 07/30/2009 #

Naked means to address and write on the postcard and mail as a postcard.

bridgetteciaj 07/30/2009 #

so you all save and keep the post cards? (asks the newbie)

jadedmama 07/31/2009 #

Do you guys have somewhere you purchase pc's from? I can only find the same boring state ones!

DebP 07/31/2009 #

@jadedmama try looking in book stores and art galleries or museums and gift shops. There is also an on-line store called Pomegranate (I hope I spelled that right) that you can buy cool postcards from. Sometimes you just have to be looking for them in new places.

twobluecrows 07/31/2009 #

Flea markets can sometimes have bundles of vintage cards cheap, too--that's where I found a lot! Once, for a state map PC swap, I googled and found some interesting ones from my state department of geological services--I got a couple of topological maps of CT. Different!

And your state ones may be boring to you, but many people collect them from other states--I'll take any postcard!

j2fabfunk 07/31/2009 #

I have some that are big too but they have beautiful Indian pictures on them. I know some people like bigger but are there any people who do NOT want a larger one?

knitmom7 07/31/2009 #

Try the post office and if yours doesn't go down the road until you find one that does!

GeminiWilder 08/ 1/2009 #

A question...I know US postcard stamps have gone up to 28 cents. Does anyone know how much it costs to send a postcard overseas? A letter costs 98 cents...is a postcard the same to mail? I've been checking online USPS site & can't find the answer! Help if you can, thanks!!

GTstamper 08/ 1/2009 #

Try this link for the usps postage calculator
http://ircalc.usps.gov/

The countries I have sent to so far have been .98 cents, it's same price for postcard or envelope. Canada is .75cents.

SwedishMum 08/ 1/2009 #

wow do u mean it is only 28 cents within USA?? Here in sweden it costs 75 cents for a postcard within Sweden and the rest of the World is 1,5 dollars....

bektech 08/ 1/2009 #

it's my first swap and all, and i was wondering if anyone wanted to be my partner?

GTstamper 08/ 1/2009 #

Hello bektech, Partners are assigned automatically. Tomorrow you will be able to view your assigned partners. If you have any questions feel free to message me.

hippofairy 08/ 2/2009 #

i'd love a bigger postcard too, but you have to pay $0.44 for a postcard bigger than 4x6, i think.

DebP 08/ 2/2009 #

I think the larger postcards require a letter size stamp. Sometimes there are swaps just for the oversized cards, so that you know people actually want to get them.

renees 08/ 2/2009 #

in the US larger than 4x6 is 44cents, smaller is 28 cents. All international postcards are 98 cents. To canada it's 75 cents and to mexico it's 79 cents

Tinker60 08/ 2/2009 #

For SwedishMum. . .for a postcard mailed in the US to a US address, our postal service charges 28 cents, but if we mail a PC to you in Sweden, it costs 98 cents. . . we Americans complain about the high cost of our mail service within the US (44 cents for a first class letter) but we really should be praising it if we learn what people overseas pay for mail within their own country!!!

LadyDetektive 08/ 2/2009 #

thanks for posting the rates- i was just heading over to usps.com... :)

Gwyneth 08/ 4/2009 #

OOOOPS!!!!! Never give you PC's to hubby to mail. I found them on the das of his truck tonight, so I will mail tomorrow. Sorry. I won't make that mistake again!!!

chuysgirl 08/ 7/2009 #

Naked DOES NOT MEAN to address and write on the postcard and mail as a postcard but rather that you shouldn't send the postcard in an envelope. Think there's some mix-up on this as I received a perfectly wonderful with my address, the partner's address and no message.
