Description:

Wine lovers - this swap is for YOU! Some people choose their wine by the price. Some choose their wine by the taste. Swapbotters choose their wine by the label. For this swap, you'll need to incorporate a label from a wine bottle. Use a label that inspires you in any way.

Any medium - just have fun. You'll need to create 2 ATC's for 2 different partners for a total of TWO ATC's. Feel free to use pieces of the same label. On the back of the card, write the name of your wine and give it a rating. Would you recommend this wine to a friend? Let them know. Cheers!

I just tried a white wine bottle, thinking maybe there was in difference in the adherence of the labels and there is. Maybe because sometimes white wine is set in ice - so the labels stick more. Try red. I haven't had any trouble with those at all.

Wow! What an awesome swap idea. I'm off to soak a wine bottle.

May have to buy several bottles just for the labels!!

Is there an easy to get the label off the bottle?

kcmwrite 04/18/2010 #

Great question. If you soak the bottle in warm water, most labels can be lifted quite easily. If it rips, it just adds more character. I have also purchased laminated label lifters from a wine store. They are a bit pricey - 10 for $7.99. But, they work very well. Lifts the label and laminates it.

Hic! Love the sound of this........

My wine label's already soaked off! I left it in water to soak for a few hours. Never mind my headache! What about a beer label one for the next one?

maroyau 04/21/2010 #

I am having no luck getting a label off, have tried 4 now :-(

We're flexible - beer labels are just fine :) I'm sorry you are having trouble with the labels. I am puzzled - I've had one I struggled with. Did you consider trying the lament sheets Karen talked about? Anyone out there have other ideas?

Is it a total of 4 ATCs or a total of 2 ATCs? The description says "create 2 ATCs for 2 different partners" so just want to make sure hoe many we're making ~ thanks ~~

kkkk 04/24/2010 #

Thanks for the clarification question. You are making two - one for each of two partners.

Tried soaking one for 4 days...tried another for 3 days...my sister in law makes her own wine and she says the labels really use aggressive adhesive. Guess I'll try another one, but so far I can't get the labels off even remotely close to one piece. I'm trying by putting a soaking wet towel on top and continually wetting it.

A ripped label in pieces might make an interesting ATC. It will at least be an interesting story to go with it!!

I filled my empty bottle with really hot water and put it in a bigger container of really hot water for just a little while and the label came right off.

I'll try that tonight jj9jj. If I ever get some labels, I'll sign up for this swap! :)
