Description:

I have no idea who created this list of prompts. If you happen to know, shout out and I'll give proper credit.

I've seen this project on many a blog and would like to do it in a journal format. For each of 30 days, there is a prompt asking a personal question.

Answer truthfully and thoroughly- at least a paragraph. The more detailed the answer the better!

The journal you use is up to you. Store-bought notebook or handmade work of art; as long as it's big enough to hold your answers. You'll have 1 partner.

Because it's holiday season, there's more than 30 days to complete the project. 'Cause obviously.

First, write a little about yourself; an introduction.

Then:

  1. Something you hate about yourself.
  2. Something you love about yourself.
  3. Something you have to forgive yourself for.
  4. Something you have to forgive someone for.
  5. Something you hope to do in your life.
  6. Something you hope you never have to do.
  7. Someone who has made your life worth living for.
  8. Someone who made your life hell or treated you like shit.
  9. Someone you didn’t want to let go, but just drifted.
  10. Someone you need to let go or wish you didn’t know.
  11. Something people seem to compliment you on the most.
  12. Something you never get compliments on.
  13. A band or artist that has gotten you through some tough-ass days.
  14. A hero who has let you down.
  15. Something or someone you couldn’t live without, because you’ve tried living without it.
  16. Someone or something you definitely could live without.
  17. A book you’ve read that changed your views on something.
  18. Your views on gay marriage.
  19. What do you think of religion? Or what do you think of politics?
  20. Your views on drugs and alcohol.
  21. Your best friend is in a car accident and you two got into a fight an hour before. What do you do?
  22. Something you wish you hadn’t done in your life.
  23. Something you wish you had done in your life.
  24. Make a playlist to someone and explain why you chose all the songs.
  25. The reason you believe you’re still alive today.
  26. Have you ever thought about giving up on life? If so, when and why?
  27. What’s the best thing going for you right now?
  28. What if you were pregnant or got someone pregnant, what would you do?
  29. Something you hope to change about yourself and why.
  30. A letter to yourself, tell yourself EVERYTHING you love about yourself.

i love this idea, even if it isn't yours, I'm really glad you've made this swap! love

ChelseaLake 11/25/2010 #

Cool swap. Are we allowed to type, or should it be handwritten?

filmstarcrazy 11/25/2010 #

This is cool! It sounds interesting to read. I definitely need to write more than I currently do!

AmoAngelus 11/25/2010 #

This sounds awesome! I've never done anything like this before, but I really can't wait to give it a go. Thank you. There's some really good questions there too which will actually need some serious thought.

This is a great swap. I havn't done a journal one before though so am a little nervous to join. Watching for now I think.

OverMoon 11/25/2010 #

How many swaps must you have completed to join?

Emthe 11/26/2010 #

@ChelseaLake Since this is more about the content of the answer than the aesthetics of the journal, I think typed would be fine. Is there some way you could present the finished product to preserve the journal experience for your reader? 'Zine format? Inexpensive 3-ring binder? Hand stitching? All just suggestions.

Emthe 11/26/2010 #

@EffiG Hope to see you when the time comes.

Emthe 11/26/2010 #

@Overmoon Newbies are welcome to join. I didn't advertise it because I wanted to be selective. Newcomers to Swapbot who are gung-ho enough to read the comments now know they can join. Heh.

I've found that a well established swapper can come apart at the seams all of a sudden and that new swappers can be just as reliable as someone with a perfect 5.0. I'll be checking profiles before assigning partners to minimize the chance of anyone getting flaked.

Also, when I do a swap that takes this much time and effort, I always purchase Delivery Confirmation from USPS. For less than a buck, being able to see where the package is at takes a lot of stress off my mind. Not saying anyone else has to. Just a suggestion.

I've decided to already start my journal! I'm doing (U.S.) Thanksgiving through Christmas day!

thisismeAXiD 11/26/2010 #

@Emthe good tip on the delivery confirmation!

ccap 11/26/2010 #

Oh goodness. I am oh so intrigued by this idea. I'm hoping to participate but a little worried about the busyness of Christmas interfering. Hopefully I can still make it work.

rubyhousesliprs 11/26/2010 #

Just so you know, there is no delivery confirmation on iInternational mail, unless you use the most expensive shipping options such as International express, etc. VERY costly.

Just what I need right now - awesome swap idea! :)
