In the group Tutorials! we discovered a tecnique called Iris folding some time ago. Now we want to share it with the rest of you on swapbot.

The folding part in itself is quite simple once you get the hang of it, as to why I linked a couple of inspiration and tutorial pages below:

Inspiration and Tutorial

The requirements for this swap is that you make one Iris folded card, in the same size as an ATC (2.5"x3.5"). This way it becomes an Iris Folded ATC.

The twist is that you have to check out your partners profile, to see what their favorite colours and figure is, and make the Iris fold with these colours and shape. This means that you can not make anything before partners are assigned, just as it means that you have to do a little research on your partners profile before starting the project.

Hope you all have fun doing this swap. And if you have any questions or comments please PM me.

If flaked upon I will Angel, but I will also make sure to go through the list of people joining the swap, to avoid any obvious flakers.

Great iris folding challenge. I'm in :)

When you say card do you mean a flat card like an ATC/business card or one that opens like a greeting card?

For my partner - I like all colors - but a rainbow colored, a monochromatic one or a color(s) of your choice Iris folded ATC would be fine!

Make it a flat card like an ATC.

If you like you can always make a greeting card as well and send it along with the ATC, in wich you write a couple of words about the swap to your partner.

Wow, this was my very first techique I learned when I got into Paper Crafts. This is going to be fun, I hope.

For my partner...Can I offer some suggestions? I like to work with 3 to 4 color combinations. For example the Cowboy Boot can be done in 4 shades of brown, or a combination of Black and Brown. So if you would like any of the following: Cowboy Boot, Turtle, Vase, Cookie Jar, SleepyTime Moon, Pots, a fan or a Kimono, Let me know in advance and I can let you know how many colors it will take. Then I can build off that. Thank you.

I see the date for the sending deadline is on a Sunday which means one day less to post as post offices are not open on Sundays in the UK. Any chance of changing it to the 28th please ?.

mulle86 03/13/2011 #

As you all can see, I just changed the date to a monday instead of a sunday. So you all have the chance to send of your swaps on the day of the deadline. I do want to say that the sooner you send out your swap the better though..

@b4ustamp : As partners hasn't been assigned yet, you will not be able to build up anything in advance. The twist is that you are to make out what your partner would like to recieve from her profile, wich isn't possible when you do not know who your partner is.

I would prefer my partner choose the color(s) and form. Surprise me! I do like monochromatic though. I already have a heart one.

I Love Red, also blue, love the combinations of black/white, navy/white, brown with pale blue or pink, polka dots stripes and checks:) I'm really easy to please.
