I'm all about my children... My adult daughter is a wonderful lady. She married March 14, 2009 - I was blessed by her husband and she to make the wedding invitations, announcements and assist with the decorations for the reception. I made bracelets for the bridesmaids and bought the silk flowers for the bouquets. My son is an EarthDay baby. He is an ecentric and unique individual years beyond his age. For the past 3 years I have been creating Earth friendly gift bags and treats. I also make him special tshirts every year. While all my children are creative in their own rights, I would have to say my son has more of an artist eye. He can turn most anything into art, he is an inspiration. And most of his art is recycled media.
I love to create mixed media recycled art and anything that involves PAPER! I love to repurpose pretty much anything that may be used with paper to create ATC's, handmade cards, altered books, party supplies & gifts. I have about a billion rubber stamps, sizzix dies, paper punches as well as inks, paints and mediums. I love nothing better than to take paper punches to scrap mail/magazines or TJ Maxx discount books, while watching tv. I also work with wire and beads.
Dexter, Battlestar Galactica, TrueBlood, CSI, FiskarsTV, Dark Blue, SouthLAnd, The Shield. I use tv for background noise and I prefer to watch it on DVD or cable without commercials.
I would like to learn how to blow glass, make my own miniature lighthouses. I also would like to learn how to work with yarn and fabric. I have a very basic knowledge of crocheting. I can't sew with a machine to save my life.
Well as I said already, PAPER!! I love textures and handmade paper.
I enjoy lighthouses, owls, Precious Memories characters, any shade of the color purple, Peanuts, Garfield, Happy Bunnies and Fairies to name a few things.
I am currently working on my sketch for my third tattoo. It will be an owl butterfly. I trusted my first artist with the creation of a beautiful rose on my thigh (covering an awful scar) and it is amazing. I took three sketches into my second artist and he created an awesome Celtic Cross on my shoulder. As for my owl butterfly, I am having troubles because it's a very hard item to locate. But I will keep at it until I fret and take it to an artist for a rendering and then ink!!
My children and I love to cook. We sit around watching the food network as often as possible and then I teach them to experiment. I know that baking is a science, but I don't believe it (with the exception of Red Velvet Cake). I use the ingredients & spices I like to mix with recipes I see. I almost never follow a recipe, I just can't!! We love spicy foods and using multiple seasonings. One of my favorite places to buy spices is online at: www.thespicehouse.com They never disappoint. I also like to get extracts from Watkins and add them to multiple things, usually sweets but I am sure I will venture to savory at some point. If I had to use only 3 items in any dish I prepare you would likely get mushrooms, garlic and onions... oh, YUMMY!!
