I'm a High School Librarian, Leader for Girlguiding Scotland Senior Section Lones (girls aged 14 -26 who can't make a local unit) and a Duke of Edinburgh's Award Leader
As a result I've failed to grow out of a love of gaining badges, toys and general geekery. Current loves include lego, playmobile, unusual furry creatures, Kinder Surprise Eggs and Barbie.
Thanks to my married surname of Whalley, I've recently acquired a love of Where's Wally? (aka Where's Waldo?).
I also have pet rats whom I take far too many photos of and spend far too much money on.
Favourite to listen to whole albums - Bowling for Soup, Save Ferris and general SKA.
Songs everyone should listen to - Flanders and Swann particularly 'The Gas Man Cometh' and 'The Gnu' .
Enjoy a varied mix otherwise including country and western, musicals, pop and rock.
For classics - The Desk Set, Bringing up Baby, The Philadelphia Story and Some like it Hot.
To pick me up - Legally Blonde, Clerks, Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World, Grosse Point Blank, Much Ado about Nothing, Joe's Apartment, Josie and the Pussycats
That I just love - Dead Poet Society, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings,Stand by Me, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Animal House, Blues Brothers, The Sting, Weird Science, Withnail and I, Heathers, Anchormen and Dodgeball.
Murder mystery - Castle, Murder She Wrote, Psych, The Mentalist.
Black Books, The Wire, Entourage, Spaced, The Guild, Tru Blood, The High Life, Star Trek TNG or original.
The Girls Next Door (when it was Holly, Bridget and Kendra).
Cartoons - loads of them but Phineas and Ferb, Hong Kong Phooey, Josie and the Pussy Cats and Disney's Sleeping Beauty all make the current sit and watch list.
Anything by Agatha Christie, Elizabeth Peters' Amelia Peabody Series, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, Flashman series by George MacDonald Fraser, Stephanie Plum Series by Janet Evanovich, Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle, Importance of Being Ernest by Oscar Wilde (in fact I like all Wilde generally), Discworld Series by Terry Pratchett (love the Death of Rats).
I also enjoy re-worked myths, legends and fairy tales.
Sewing and fabric crafts mainly - miniature bears and critter either stitched or needlefelted.
After that it's what takes my fancy and inspires so I've done a bit of jewellery making, clay modelling, card making, patchwork and general sewing.
I've also experimented with ATCs, scrapbooking, zine making.
Generally I'm always looking for cheap and cheerful ideas to share with my Senior Section including mail art or mail fun as I post out a monthly newsletter.
Like - Purple, magenta and blue (though I like and use all colours so please don't only send me stuff in those colours) sewing and fabric related crafts and new ideas and suggestions for crafts. I like books and book related fun including zines, stationary and ATCs I'm much more geek than chic
Dislikes- Mmm... I guess I'm not an overly flowery person and really girly stuff is less likely to get used. I can't knit or crochet so wool tends to go a begging.
Otherwise surprises are good and what kind of creative person would I be if i couldn't make use of everything?
