I like:
The color orange (my whole kitchen has orange accents), and earth tones (browns, charcoal grey, sage green, rusty or brick reds, heathers).
Stylin' vintage fashions of the 1940s and 50s. I saw an exhibit of Soviet functional graphic designs (mostly cloth) a few years back. It was awesome. Art deco is also very cool in my book. I got to stay in a restored art deco hotel in Cincinnati for a work trip once. Who knew there was culture in Ohio? Previously I had experienced the state mostly as a very long stretch of highway.
Natural fabrics, textured/patterned papers, lithograph/linoleum/woodblock prints, and photography rock my socks.
Socks also rock my socks. Smartwools are the very very best, but the cheap ones with fuzzy animals and the like are nice too - except toe socks. They are an aberration.
Blues, bluegrass, folk, punk, angry women with guitars, NPR, community radio.
Museums, gardening, rural living (even though I'm in Boston, yes), camping, stars, birds, nature guides, houseplants.
Anything Joss Whedon has ever even contemplated doing (Buffy, Serenity, various comics, etc). Battlestar Galactica, Dr Who, British TV.
My taste in books is quite broad. I like mysteries, but not thriller/suspense. I love cookbooks, and read them for entertainment, even those ones put out by the ladies' auxiliary in the '70s. Sci/fi and fantasy with well written queer characters makes me happy. And I like natural history (Stephen J Gould and Chet Raymo type stuff), and nonfiction on gardening. I do not like romance, airport novels (John Grisham and the like), self help books, or cutesy collections of empowering sayings, etc.
Vintage pyrex (not the clear kind), thrift stores, pre-loved and gently used kitsch.
Gnomes.
Games (Cribbage, Carcassone, Scrabble, Boggle, Pictionary, Settlers of Catan, any word game).
Allergies:
*Walnuts
*Apples
*Shellfish (not that I really expect anyone to mail me shellfish)
*Lactose intollerant (not allergic to milk, but it gives me a bad stomach ache).
