About Me

I'm a 33 year old mother of one daughter. I own 2 businesses. I have 3 cats, 1 dog and a bird all of which are rescue animals. All of the above keeps me quite busy :P

In another life I was a scientific researcher but after my daughter was born I decided to pursue my lifelong dream of starting my own crafty related business. I started Gooseberry Press 4 years ago.

We design and draw city/area maps and use them in our products: organic city totes, letterpress postcards, other stationery and paper goods. If you are interested, check out www.gooseberrypress.com and we also have an etsy shop, gbpress.etsy.com

I love to travel, do craft projects with my daughter, hike, swim, read, cook, go to farmer's markets in new towns, visit the beach, walk my dog with my family on the weekends, watch Cooking Shows, japanese fabrics (not traditional but cute), the list can go on forever...

My husband and I are planning our next vacation and though we would love to return to Europe this year we are thinking of staying closer to home and visiting Yellowstone or Washington DC, two places I have never been before.

Favorite Music

I like all kinds of music but mostly alternative-punk-rock. The disc I currently have in my cd player is the first Vampire Weekend album. My daughter loves it too...we call it our sunny music and I must say that whenever I hear it now it puts a smile on my face. Other than that I love classical, I played the violin for many years. Can't say that I'm very good but the one thing it did for me is instill a love of instrumental music especially strings. My favorite musicians are Yo Yo Ma, Itzhak Perlman, Joshua Bell...especially when they are playing their own compositions.

The Police, U2, Radiohead, Social Distortion...the list goes on.

Favorite Books

I like all kinds of books although I haven't read as much as I would like to now that I have a little girl. I'm trying to get back into it and one of my favorite authors is Christopher Moore. I love classic literature as well and have been a longtime fan of the Brontes and Jane Austen long before people started putting vampires and zombies in their stories.

I'm currently reading magazines as it provides a quick source of entertainment and I don't feel bad if I don't get the time to finish them. I love Ready Made Magazine, Make, Craft (online zine), and yes even Martha Stewart from time to time. I like all kinds of cooking, gardening, crafting and home decor mags - they make me happy :)

Favorite Movies

Again, like reading, going to movies is a rare occurrence with a little kid. My favorite movies to watch over and over again are About A Boy, Thomas Crown Affair, Galaxy Quest, Evolution, Pride and Prejudice, The Princess Bride, Get Shorty, Usual Suspects, any of the Agatha Christie Poirot movies or episodes.

Favorite Crafts

I love to try out new crafts and my friends joke that I collect crafts. Seriously, if I haven't tried it I want to. My favorites are jewelry making, letterpress, gocco, rubber stamp making, printmaking, any kind of papercraft, paper boxes, anything that has a template. I really want to learn needle felting, knitting and crochet, bookbinding, intaglio and I want to get better at embroidery and sewing. I'm probably leaving something out but you get the drift.

Other bits...

I'm new here but I'm very good about sending things out on time. If you haven't received something that you should have please message me first - I'll try to figure out what happened.

I'm a fan of snail mail and packages (and who isn't?) so I try to make sure that the packages and mail I send out are special.

I love all kinds of unique packaging such as labels, stickers, stamps, etc. I love things we don't get in the United States - such as envelopes and decorations from other countries.

I like anything with a high design factor but simple in design.

I don't care for overly flowery or ornate things but I will be happy with your choices.
