Hi there! I'm Jacquie but you can call me Jackson, everyone does. An east coast transplant (New Yorker) living in Northern California. I'm going to school for Art with a focus on Painting and hope to never have a normal day job again. All of my clothes have paint on them...or glue.
I live with my hubby in a house filled with robots, vinyl records, and art supplies. I try to spend most of my time creating stuff, which you can see on my blog. I update it regularly, so come by and say hello! I mainly work on hand embroidery, but dabble in paper crafting- making ATCs and my own stationary.
While I'm not working on crafty stuff I love reading, watching movies, cooking, thrifting, and having a drink with friends. I have a wealth of useless trivia and movie quotes floating around in my head at any given time.
I love kitsch and all things vintage. I dig pin-up girls, zombies, robots, and ephemera. I love me some (well executed) tattoos (hubby and I have matching robots) and can't wait to be covered in 'em. I'm obsessed with color and texture- think bright and funky rather than pastels. I'm all about movies, quotes and embroidery.
I'm not so into holiday themed stuff, patriotic stuff, and shoddily made crafts.
Ahhhh, so many! And I'm sure I could name even more. Movies are kind of "my thing" The Godfather I & II (if you are a fan of these movies then you should already know how I feel about III, ha ha), Casino, Goodfellas, Taxi Driver, Heat, Flawless, The Shining, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Big Lebowski, Breakfast with Hunter, Fargo, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Seven, Raising Arizona, O' Brother, Where Art Thou, Silence of the Lambs, Cinema Paradiso, The Bicycle Thief, Four Rooms, Requiem for a Dream, Snatch, The Wonder Boys, The Witches, The Great Outdoors, Uncle Buck, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert......
I love reading. Some of my favorite books are "Still Life With Woodpecker", "Devil in the White City", and "Ham on Rye"
I love anything by Hunter S. Thompson, Charles Bukowski, Tom Robbins, David McCullough, James Ellroy, Kurt Vonnegut and Erik Larson.
I enjoy short stories, mysteries and historical fiction/ nonfiction.
Oh, and because I'm still just a big kid at heart my ultimate favorite author is Roald Dahl. I'll probably be rereading his books for the rest of my life.
Don't hesitate to recommend a book for me, I'm always down to check out new things.
I'm ok with admitting that I am a crime show junkie. Give me a Law and Order marathon and my embroidery supplies, I'll be good to go for a while! (I can't help it, I love me some Stabler.)
I am an embroidery fanatic! I try to get some stitching in everyday.
I also enjoy ATCs, stationary, journals, stamps, felt, mixed-media, collage, painting.
I also love learning new things. Someday soon I hope to learn how to use resin, knit and crochet. So much stuff and not enough time.

The pirates for Miguel were a HUGE hit and were immediatly put into action (Lego vs Pirates!). He has been bosting to all about his letter M post-its!!
You are a brilliant person to swap with and I really hope we get paired up again!!!
the book is by Ginger Strand-"Inventing Niagra"- http://www.gingerstrand.com/ My bf found it insightful, interesting, surprising & somewhat sad & shameful...let me know if you read it & what you think! Yes, I agree-bodies of water have a very profound effect on me, i tend to get quite agitated & anxious if i am not able to be near water for more than a few weeks in a row. I lived all my life in the midwest, where rivers, lakes & streams are abundant. But even luckier for me, I was able to visit my grandparents who lived on the Gulf coast of Southern Florida all through my life, and now, i live just 3 miles from several beautiful & dramatic beaches here in the Seattle area...plus my mom now lives in the subdivision next to where my grandparents lived in Florida, which is about 4 miles from the gorgeous beaches there...so my need to be around water is easily satisfied!
