Hello! I'm quite new to swap-bot and have been enjoying participating in newbie-friendly swaps! I have been writing letters since a young age, and love both sending and receiving snail mail!
I am an Australian scientist, studying in the realm of zoology. A lot of my interests revolve around nature and science!
I collect zoological- and botanical-themed postage stamps, so am hoping to find some stamp swaps to join. On that note, I would be over the moon if a future partner used these themed stamps on their envelopes!
-> Snail mail (of course!)
-> Washi tape
-> Stickers
-> Postage stamps
-> Craft
-> Music (I play the violin and piano)
-> Nature (especially birds and frogs) and wildlife conservation
-> Rubber stamps
-> Tea
-> Postcards
-> Wax seals
-> Ephemera
-> Pokemon (as you may be able to tell from my username)
-> Doctor Who
-> Harry Potter
-> Crochet
-> Origami/papercraft
-> Cross-stitch
-> Chickens
-> Cats
-> Gudetama
-> Reading/books
-> Mismatched playing cards - I am making a frankendeck!
-> Blue
-> Pink
-> Purple
-> Pastels
-> Floral
-> Vintage
-> Travel
There are truly too many! But some of my favourite authors are:
-> Jane Austen
-> All 3 Brontes
-> L M Montgomery
-> Laura Ingalls Wilder
-> Stephen Lawhead
-> Lois Lowry
-> J K Rowling
-> Tom Cox
-> James Herriot
-> Arthur Conan Doyle
I mostly read classics, science-fi, fantasy, historical fiction, crime/mystery fiction etc.
I am currently working my way through a few Buzzfeed Books lists, which is introducing me to a lot of new authors and books.
My favourite theme for postcards would definitely have to be nature, and particularly animals. However, I am happy to receive pretty much any postcards! Preferably not free advertisement postcards, unless they are particularly nice/cute and you think I might like them. Touristy postcards are great too, especially if there is a story to go along with them (e.g. your hometown, somewhere you visited once, somewhere you would like to visit!).
My postage stamp collection is based on a zoological theme, but I also include botanical and fungal stamps! I also have a "miscellaneous" section for just any random stamps I love!
I collect both new and used stamps, from any country, and any dates. I don't care about the value of stamps - I just collect stamps because I love them! I do have quite a collection of old stamps that I don't need/want in my personal collection, so will send these in appropriate swaps :)
My interest in stamp collecting was sparked by the RSA stamp commemorating the rediscovery of the coelacanth. I don't currently have this stamp in my collection, but am searching for it! Other stamps I am searching for include JapanPost Pokemon stamps, Austrian novelty stamps (COVID mask, liederhosen), and any that are interesting in shape or design! Also any featuring an animal, plant, or fungus!
There isn't much I dislike - I am grateful to receive anything that someone has put thought and effort into! I would only ask that you please refrain from sending religious or political items.
