Hello!

My name is Megan (she/her), I'm 29 and I'm from Australia! I started snail mail October 2018 after getting lost in the Youtube rabbit hole of Bullet Journals and then snail mail, and I fell in love with it! I'm still relatively green when it comes to swap-bot, because I want to make sure I only enter swaps when I have capacity to give my all.

I work in the mental health field so crafting/snail mail is my relaxation hobby when I need to wind down a bit! Other than that, I love having friends over for games nights or dinners, spending time with cats or dogs (I just adopted a cat and I adore her!), reading, and listening to/finding new music.

I'm pretty open (LGBTQIA+ positive), I'm not religious but respect if you are (just please respect that I'm not!), and I love when people share their interests with me, even if it's not necessarily what I am interested in - as long as it's something you're passionate about! One of my favourite parts of doing swaps is learning about the different lives of people all around the world, and seeing different perspectives. Even if the swap doesn't exactly call for it, please feel free to add something interesting about you or where you are from, because I love reading it!

Books: I have been increasing my reading recently, which I am happy about! I started using The Storygraph, which I recommend to anyone who enjoys reading (it is similar to Goodreads but much better/easier to use (and it's not owned by Amazon!)). Some books I have enjoyed recently are:

The book that always comes to mind when people ask the 'favourite' question is Flowers For Algernon by Daniel Keyes.

TV: I'm a bit of a generic 20 something and love shows like The Office, Ted Lasso, and Gilmore Girls - again the easy going stuff. I also tend to go for less current shows partly because then I don't have to wait for the next episode, and also because shows like Will & Grace or The Nanny have much less drama in them then a lot of the current shows (I have never seen nor intend to watch Game of Thrones, The Last of Us, Handmaids Tale etc).

Movies:

• Again with the easy/relaxed vibe, I mostly seem to watch movies from the 90s/00s or that have a similar happy ending vibe like Legally Blonde, The Sweetest Thing, Pitch Perfect, Clueless... (you get the picture!). I also like Sliding Doors, not because it's a spectacular movie, but because I love the idea of one small moment changing the trajectory of your life!

• I also love watching comedy specials on Netflix - I love Daniel Sloss, Russel Howard, and James Acaster in particular

Music: My music taste is very broad, I will pretty much listen to anything (I don't particularly like screamo, but I DO like the music/instrumental part of the songs!). According to Spotify my primary music taste fits within the 'Indie/Alternative' genre, but I also like some pop, 90s RnB, old school rock and heavy metal, 80s dance tracks, the list goes on... A few great artists that come to mind right now are:

I have had a bit of a break from swaps due to life changes and a difficulty in finding more local swaps :)

I saw people posting about goodies they like to receive, so I'll try and come up with a list...

Things I'd love:

• handmade things - flip books, tags, pretty envelopes, bookmarks etc
• ephemera
• pretty stickers and sticker flakes (I don't really use the kiddie stickers like what come in the books at dollar stores, though.)
• washi
• coffee and tea (I don't like green tea, liquorice tea or anything with vanilla in it though!)
• chocolate - especially things that are specific to your area/special to you!
• interesting papers - vellum, handmade paper, etc
• hair scrunchies
• music suggestions
• book recommendations
• tidbits from your local area/information about something specific to where you live

Things I don't like

• politics
• overly religious/preachy
• just general mean/negative energy
• anything that feels like you don't really care - only because I try to put as much energy in what I send, and it can be disheartening when it's not returned. That being said, it's never about the 'skill' of someone's crafting, only the intent behind it, if that makes sense!
