Hi ! I’m Kayla . I’m a stay at home mom to 2 boys. I live in the beautiful East Tennessee Appalachian Mountains. I am married to my absolute best friend and we enjoy doing things outdoors with our 2 children. We go metal detecting, hunting for wild mushrooms, or play in the creek for fun. We like a nice slow life where you enjoy the little things. We plan to begin homeschooling in the next 2 years and we’ve began homesteading already. Our children don’t play any games online and don’t watch much tv. They prefer being outdoors and playing in the dirt or being in the woods(they both ride dirt bikes) . My husband is a Welder & before I started staying home with our boys I was a Nurses aid for 10 years (decided to start staying home at the end of Covid) . I am passionate about caring for others tho, especially those with mental or intellectual disabilities. I am also very passionate about vintage and antique things. I love to collect old or vintage kitchen items and utensils. Especially those that were used here in the Appalachian Mountains by someone’s mamaw or granny. I love all things about gardening, canning food or food preservation,homesteading,foraging, camping, outdoors . I guess I may be what some people consider country or maybe even hillbilly and I am not at all offended by that title . I actually find it honorable : ). As a family we also love to travel when we get the chance. I am also very happy at home and feel thankful for the things our family has.

My favorite singer is Koe Wetzel Look him up ! My favorite song of his is ‘Ragweed’ or ‘Cold&Alone’ my husbands is ‘Fuss&Fight’. He is a mix of country and rock music. 90s country, 90s alternative rock,& 70s rock is always playing in my house. All also love the band Pecos and the Rooftops and Tyler Childers Huge Stevie Nicks fan, LOVE Alice In Chains , Waylon Jennings, Austin Meade , System of a Down, SlipKnot, Old Gospel and Bluegrass(Ralph Stanley) Love Oliver Anthony Even like a lot of hip hop and rap. My music love goes far and wide !

Recipes ,pop culture (movies and music) country music , old westerns anything from the 1950’s 60’s 70’s 80’s 90’s or 2000’s (vintage) religious and Christian themes( I love Jesus & I’m thankful he saved my soul.) Fave movies - Dirty Dancing or Ghost with (Patrick Swayze) Texas chainsaw massacre (2003 version) , The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia (documentary), Fave show - Bobs Burgers, King of the Hill, Scooby Doo,My name is Earl, Walking Dead, Taboo on National Geographic, Roseanne 1980s or 90s episodes, I love documentaries about just about anything lol. I like to learn ! I read a lot of native plant or medicinal plant book. Gardening and herbalism books. I love the Bible and different daily devotionals . I love reading books about raising children to love nature and things like that.

My husband, kids , and I call ourselves “Hobby Jumpers” bc we are always looking for new things to try and get into as a family . We’ve absolutely love sharing hobbies and doing them together ! Metal detecting , digging and sifting for arrowheads, hiking , foraging for medicinal plants and mushrooms , hiking , kayaking , camping , thrift shopping , hunting and fishing , playing in creek while looking for cool rocks and fossils (rock hounds for sure) we also collect creek glass ( it’s the sea glass of Appalachia 🤣) and we make cool art with different pieces . We like four wheeling and I drive an old 2001 Jeep Cherokee . I’ve had new cars and I actually enjoy having an old one that I can take off the beaten path better ! I had a new Toyota 4Runner and I loved it bc I drive one until it had 300,000 miles when I was younger but I didn’t like that I always worried that it would get scratched on the trails we like to drive on . We had a really bad car accident in it back in spring of 2023 ( Im still thanking God that we were all ok) after it was totaled and my husband took me to buy another vehicle I actually decided I wanted something older to fix up so I never had to worry about scratching during one of our adventures. 🤣 also #debtfree living here . It prompted me and my husband to start our debt free journey and man I’m so thankful it did . We don’t care about “keeping up with the Jones” The Pennington’s have way more fun ! 💯👌🏽🤣❤️
