Welcome to my profile. I am a casual social worker working in primary care clinics. I live in a 1930's apartment in the downtown of a mid-size Northern community in Canada. I live with my husband, King Charles spaniel and a leonberger dog who goes to a countryside daycare during the week. I understand he is on probation right now as he keeps running away from the pack to go visit the owner of the property😂 We love hosting international students in our home.
Things that energize me: visual arts!! - wall murals, great signs, architecture, ATC’s, antiques, drawings, printmaking, wooden carvings - quirky people, nature, travel (wide and far), community development, birds, mammals, social innovation, anything “Griffin,” history, literary fiction, linguistics, mental health, museums.
I should build on TRAVEL: I have become addicted to getting away (not sure what that says about my psyche) since my first independent travel to Guatemala when I was 25. In those days, travel was much different without internet, smart phones or Trip Advisor. Since then, I have accumulated a lot of little star stickers that I adhere to my globe. Favorites have included Greenland, Japan, Varanasi, Iceland, Venezuela, Turkey and the Channel Island. Next month I am visiting Belize and I hope to do some cheap and dirty backpacking with a girlfriend in the fall.
Wish List: Art postcards Antique Postcards and Letters. Stereographs - collect these💗 ATCs Anything with historical images, culture, arts, quirky stuff, humour (black is fine), medical Socks Earrings Tea towels Return address labels. Postage stamps - new or used
I don't care for cutesy/girlie things or child reward stickers. I am not religious but don’t mind beautiful religious symbols and architecture (just don’t try to sell me:-) But really, if I get something I cannot use, I just pass it on.
