About Me

June 10, 2019 Update

May was an extremely difficult month for my family, among other things, My Father passed away. For these reasons, I am taking a little break from Swapbot, now that I have finished all my May swaps. I hope to be back in July. Thank you.

Hi! I love to journal, and keep several different types for different purposes. I love my hobonichi, my midori travelers' notebook, and my bullet journal the best. I'm not very artistic, but I find sketching and watercolor very relaxing. I love to send snail mail, and just found swapbot, I am excited to try it! I'm still new at mail art, but learning as I go.

I have 3 young children who keep me very busy. We also have two dogs, a Border Collie mix and a poodle. I work at a local nonprofit.

Along with Journaling, I love to read, I am a big sci fi nerd, and I collect fountain pens. My family loves to camp, hike and canoe.

Favorite Books

I love reading everything. Jane Austen would be my favorite, and anything in that genre. I also love mystery, sci fi/fantasy, thrillers, fiction and non fiction.

Favorite Television

I have eclectic taste in TV. There's the usual sit coms and dramas. But I also like quirky shows, anything British (Endeavor!) and vintage mysteries (Poirot). I love Doctor Who, Sherlock AND Elementary, You're The Worst, and any Star Trek. I love cooking shows, especially Chopped and Halloween Wars. Lately, I have been enjoying The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and The Umbrella Academy!

Favorite Themes/Things

-Fountain pens

-Purple, Green, Grey

-Nature, botanical, mountains

-Gardening, vegetables, Herbs, Artichokes

-Goats, Dogs, Sloths, hedgehogs, bears

-Anything Tim Burton or Alice in Wonderland

-Flow magazine

-Yoga, meditation, simplicity

-Cabins, camping, backpacking

-Cooking, canning

-I really have eclectic tastes, and I love variety!

Tea of Choice

Tea seems to be a big deal around here. I have no problem with that. I drink all kinds, but prefer real tea over herbal or infusions. My standard is Earl Grey, but I am also one of those weird people who likes Lapsang Souchang even though my husband calls it creosote tea. I love flowering teas. And my favorite green tea is gunpowder green tea. I also like different mint teas and chai. But I really love trying different kinds and I love the different tea bag art.

Please don't send...

I really do love almost everything, but as I have actually received a few of these things (and some are more problematic than others) I thought I should mention them.

Please don't send me:

-negative images on postcards or anywhere else. -political or religious items -Christmas themed items

I'm a coffee addict. The first step is admitting you have a problem, right? I drink tea too, but coffee is a must have for mornings. And I love Starbucks (I know, I know) and Starbucks related paraphernalia. I love to collect cool Starbucks gift cards and other ephemera...

Craft Stuff I like

I'm not picky and really love seeing all the different things swappers share! But if we're doing a journal/craft swap, here are a few ideas of things I especially love: -Different types of paper, book, ledger, tea stained, etc.

-Twine, lace, paper twine, etc.

-regular or passport inserts

-stationery, note paper, sticky notes, little envelopes

-stickers of all kinds (please no reward stickers)

-die cuts and stamped images

-journal cards

-ephemera of all kinds

-anything handmade by you that you want to share

Comment: Juliet - I’m so sorry! I thought I’d put in a rating when I received your journal, I’ve been carrying it around in my bag for some time hoping to get a chance to read through it properly. It is so fun, so colorful- with all the drawings and collage! Thank you!
Response: I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for the heart!

Comment: Thank-you for the postcard. It is lovely. I figure my mailman or someone along the chain must live Dr. Who as I never got either of my original cards which is weird. I too love the Ponds and I can’t decide between Dr. 10 or 11 as my favourite.
Response: Thank you so much for the heart! I feel so bad the first one was lost, but I'm glad this one arrived safe and you enjoyed it!

Comment: I can't believe you say in your profile that you're not artistic... Lies! Lol- Your journal was an absolute joy to read; every page made me smile, and it's a real inspiration for me should I decide to join another journal swap in the future. It's very clear you took the time to really read my profile as well, and thank you for the lovely doodles of Marie Antoinette and the Sand Worm! I'm very sorry about your father. No need for apologies, the journal is fantastic, even if there hadn't been extenuating circumstances. Best wishes to you and your family, and I look forward to swapping with you again.
Response: I am so glad you enjoyed the journal! If my artistic abilities are improving, it is definitely due to being a part of Swapbot and pushing myself to try new things! I had a lot of fun doing the Marie Antoinette page, and the sandworm. ;-) Thank you for your kind thoughts, I look forward to future swaps with you!
Comment: Thank you for your postcard and book recommendation. I shall certainly give the Invisible Library a try.
Comment: Juliet, I love your name first of all. :-) Second, your watercolor is fabulous!! I am also a beginner. I don't trust that my projects will come out, but I do it anyway just because it's so fun!! Thanks so much for the extras!! Also, your penmanship is amazing! I love the way you wrote my name on the envie! Wish mine looked like that!! :-)
Response: Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed this swap!
