USERNAME CHANGE: For those of you who are in my swaps, YES, my username did just change (on 5.5.10). Rachel was kind enough to change it from "user2972" to "allaboutpaper". Just in case you looked at your computer screen and thought you'd gone crazy. :D
I'm a 38 year-old woman living in Colorado, USA. I found a book about altered books 5 years ago at Michael's, and fell in love with the world of mixed-media at first sight. My passion is Art Journaling, and learning mixed-media techniques to play around with. My art journal inspirations are Juliana Coles, Sabrina Ward Harrison, Samantha Kira, and Julie Prichard.
I'm single with no kids, and because I became disabled about 5 years ago, I have/spend a lot of time doing art, and looking up/learning art techniques. The internet has seriously saved my sanity!
I had forgotten about this place for a long time, but I am raring to go for some swaps! I'm a responsible swapper, despite being a newbie, so I hope that you'll give me a chance to prove myself. When I sign up for a swap, I only sign up if I can begin working on it right away - I do NOT put swaps off to the last minute. I mark my swaps as sent after I have physically mailed it off (either from my home mailbox, or the post office).
If you do not receive a swap item from me, PLEASE, PM me, and we'll work it out to get your stuff to you. I love taking the time to think of what a person would like, according to their profile, so I'm very anxious that you get what you signed up for!
And even though I list a lot of scrapbook supplies under my "Other Art Stuff That I Like", I don't actually scrapbook (art journals are my scrapbooks). I just like the more design-y elements that are made for scrapbookers.
100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel GarcÃa Márquez, A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking, Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy, Galileo's Daughter by Dava Sobel, Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden, Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman, Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen, The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood, The Diviners by Margaret Lawrence, The Fellowship of the Ring by J. R. R. Tolkein, The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkein, The Oxford Book of Modern Fairy Tales, compilation, The Reckoning by May Sarton, The Return of the King by J. R. R. Tolkein, The River King by Alice Hoffman, The Silmarillion by J. R. R. Tolkein, The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield, The Two Towers by J. R. R. Tolkein, Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston, Waking Up in the Land of Glitter by Kathy Cano-Murillo (The Crafty Chica), Wisdom of No Escape by Pema Chodron, Women Who Run With the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estes
Adventures of Baron von Munchausen, Brazil, Heavenly Creatures, The Last Unicorn, Shrek, Howls' Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Final Fantasy: Advent Children, the whole Twilight saga, Avatar. I love Fantasy films (obviously, lol), and Hayao Miyazaki rocks my world!
Nightwish, Within Temptation, Evanescence, HIM, The Rasmus, The Northern Kings, Nicci Costa, Kate Tucker & The Sons of Sweden, Imogen Heap
Law & Order SVU, Glee, America's Next Top Model & Project Runway (TGPs = Total Guilty Pleasures)
This is just a list of stuff I like, to make it easier for profile-geared swaps.
Obviously, I love me some vintage stuff - 1950's back to the Victorian era. And it's not the age (although authentic vintage ephemera is cool) - it's the design aspects - so I'm totally happy with reproductions, or things that are modern, but have a vintage feel to them (via the colors or the designs). Like, I'm always finding ribbons, papers and fabrics that seem to convey "vintage", even though they're modern. :D
Again, just a list of stuff I like, that people are more likely to have in their stashes (versus vintage/vintage-inspired items), to make it easier for profile-geared swaps.
There's only one style of stuff out there that I don't like, and that's Country Cute. I also don't need any text pages (like dictionary pages, pages torn out from old foreign texts, that kind of thing), because I have enough to last a lifetime, lol.
