I adore music. I own approximately 800 CDs, have about 300 waiting to get rid of, and I have 61 GB of music on my computer.
Genres I tend to enjoy: indie, dream pop, shoegaze, electronica, modern rock, bluegrass, acoustic, alternative, dylan-esque, ska, punk, folk...
Not a fan of a lot of top 40 pop, formula rock (think Nickelback), radio country, or hardcore rap/hip hop.
I am willing to give most things a listen.
the L Word, Weeds, the Hour
I don't have cable and don't really watch television. I prefer my children and I to be spending our free time doing other things... That's not to say we don't watch it, we do borrow videos from the library and we probably watch a movie on average once a week. We certainly don't plan anything around "must see tv" though.
I'm an almost 30 year old Mama of 2. I'm a believer in alternative education and choices not just in education but in life. I'm not a believer in a one size fits all mentality for society. I think human beings in general could do with far more freedoms than our society allows for.
I've got an anti-eyebrow piercing and a lip piercing. I adore live music and hanging out/spending time with my kids. I'm currently working on getting my library technician diploma via distance learning and I find it interesting when people tell me (based on appearances) that I don't seem like the kind of person who'd be so passionate about literacy... I'm completely interested in breaking down/defying stereotypes. I also have a graphic communications certificate from my local technical college.
I work part time in a public library and I used to volunteer once a week in a library at my city's literacy centre (I had to give it up though as my schedule was becoming hard to manage). My kids and I do random volunteer projects like making meals to be served at homeless shelters and delivering gifts for Santa's Anonymous each year. We sponsor a child through Plan Canada, his name is Ahmed, he's 4, and lives in Egypt.
