I am married with 1 daughter and 1 grand daughter, 4 fur kids..( 2 fat cats ,1 skinny yarn loving cat and one ornery cat ) I retired in 2016 and now just a full time care giver for my hubby. I love swapping but sometimes taking care of my hubby gets in way of my rating, ect. A gentle reminder please when I am late on rating.

With hubby needing more attention, I am limiting how many swaps I do so I can get them out on time. I am open to private swaps. If we talked about one but I didn't get back to you, recontact me. If hubby is being more challenging, I go into survival mode and forget my fun stuff.

About Me

I'm a Christian. I like sewing with fabric creating quilts out of other people's left overs. Most of my quilts go out to local needs. I been in Girl Scouts since 1993. I worked with 2 different troops til they graduated and am now a helper for the Cadette troop where my granddaughter is a member. No more paperwork! Yah!!! I am born and raised in South Dakota growing up on a farm.I still live in SD. I have 5 sisters and 1 brother with 11 nieces and nephews and 3 great nephews.

Favorite Music

I like the music from the 70's, ethic music and christian .

Favorite Television

When I watch TV, it is CSI type shows. Trying to figure out how they do the lab work interest me. Lately, Alaska, the last frontier. It reminds me of my childhood in many ways.

Favorite Crafts

I love work with fabric..creating something of beauty and usefulness from scraps. Most of my quilts go to local needs.

When not sewing, I crochet baby sweaters for preemies to use going home and afghans for future gifts. I also knit loom hats for kids in need.

I like to do crazy quilting with beads, lace & ribbons ect but that is in the summer. The cold here makes my hands hurt too much then.

I love using cotton yarn to make clothes and afghans for myself and family members who can't wear synthetic threads. The leftovers become wash cloths. Any color will work. This winter with being stocked up with rummage sale yarn..I plan to make mutli colored baby sized blankets for foster care kids for them to keep. I took up painting after becoming an empty nester. Most of my paintings are from vacation pictures from National Parks near South Dakota. I'm use film and digital . Love what I can do with a camera .

fun stuff

I love beads, buttons, yarn, ribbons and fabric.

COLLECTIONS: magnets, key chains, recycled bags from national parks

postcards: local color, ethic, maps, paintings, national parks, (love what you send as long as it is not x rated) As traveling gets harder for my husband, armchair travel by postcards is the way I fill my wondering spirit. At times now during respite time..I take bus tours now. I would love to get small coins and canceled stamps from international trades. They would be used for my granddaughter's scout troop.

In fabric swaps...I lean towards brights but can use all colors in my sewing

not wanted stuff

I am allergic to all perfumes, peanut butter, coffee and artificial sweeteners. Also can't eat wheat products now. My allergies...the gift that keeps on giving. :( So please do not send me any of these. Please no Santa Claus's

Comment: I LOVE making zipper pouches! Here is my favorite tutorial. http://www.twelve22.org/blog/2006/07/23/zipper_tutorial/ Here's an embarrassing story. I was in Istanbul. Shops would try to lure you in to buy stuff. They'd offer free mint tea or apple tea. Turns out, the apple "tea" is pretty much just hot kool aid. Super sweet. Some shops would try to sell you dried apples which they said they used to make the tea. It's a tourist scam! And I fell for it. (for a while, anyway) I'm guessing they used something like the packaged hot cider mix on your chunk. D'oh!!
Response: will have to try your method for making pouches.Mine is a little different.

Comment: thank you very much for the flipbook. Must be a rough travel most of the items didn't sticked anymore ;-( happy halloween to you!
Response: Sorry about that. :( I used heavy duty glue. It was cool looking when I got done. First page had the maple leaf tree with an eek peaking out. Halloween critters under the tree. Zombie tape going across the 2nd page to the 3rd page. On the 4th page was 3 pumpkins with a message. I am assuming the pumpkins and some of the leaves fell off. bummer

Comment: Thank you very Much.. the blue buttons look like Blueberries..Nice hand work..and Love the Postcards !!! When did you learn to sew? and what do you like to sew ?
Response: I learned to embroider in grade school age. As for sewing...I learned grade school age too.(had to as Mom hated fixing holes) High School just refined my skills. I love sewing...making quilts of all sizes, bags ect .I make most of my clothes as I can't wear man made fibers. I also remake clothes I find in second hand places. I picked buttons that look like blueberries . I'm glad you like the needle case and the post cards. :)

My favorite simple pizza dough recipe:
http://markbittman.com/dinner-with-bittman-pizza-dough/
I make calzone with this dough too, filled with spinach (10oz. frozen, thawed in a colander, and squeezed dry), ricotta, a little parmesan, and an egg. My husband likes a calzone with spaghetti sauce on the side; I like it plain.

Love the Potholder Fabric... Reminds me of a print almost like this I used to make a playpen pad and tote bag when I had my first son. Blessings and Hugs from OHIO.
