I'm a wife, a Mom, a friend, and a pastry chef, a writer, and an artist.
I love cooking food, looking at food, learning about food, the rituals for food... lol... pretty much everything but eating food. To many, this seems a bit obsessive of me, but once they meet me, they understand.
I knit, weave, spin, and sew. I make paper, candles, and soap. I read almost anything from fiction to non-fiction; poetry, plays, and even the occasional newspaper. I write and normally have twenty or thirty blogs or journals going at any given time.
I'm big into sustainable and green living and support Slow Foods Intl and Local Harvest. I visit my Farmer's market several times a month. I love organic food and natural household cleansers.
I want my kids to learn HOW to think, not WHAT to think. I emphasize that they should understand the problem rather than trying to remember a set answer.
I am a bit alternative and gothy (inside the house and around people I'm comfortable with)... but still manage to be on the conservative side. I could easily see myself fitting in a large city PTA environment as easily as I could be the oddball lady wearing long Victorian skirts while managing a farm. Either way, I'm a pretty unique person who is fairly comfortable with myself.
I love anything with a beat. Bowie, NIN, Eurythmics, heck I even like Mandy Moore, and high school marching bands. lol. I also enjoy New Age music (from John Tesh and Yanni to the sounds of nature and cosmos). I don't mind rap on the whole, but I really don't need to hear about degrading women or killing people for fun. I enjoy classical and show tunes. Yeah, I'm a bit odd.
lol. I studied Opera for several years and learned to appreciate good musical dynamic.
Labryinth- I love the sense of wonder
Super Troopers- It just cracks me up
The Devil Wears Prada- It's a cruel, cruel world.
Starship Troopers- I like the ideas in this movie.
Futurama, Shin Chan, Eureka, Reality TV of the Top Chef/Project Runway genre, Game Shows
Writing, Cooking, Painting, Sewing, Knitting, Scrapbooking
I'm working my hardest to find out where I stand on swaps right now.
If you were unaware, I went through a very personal tragedy last fall and it pretty much shattered my world. Some kind souls on swap-bot set up an angeling group for me, however, I'm still not entirely certain where that stands.
If I owe you a swap still, I'm very sorry. Let me know, and I will try to make it up to you somehow.
I like fruit and vegetables.
I love healthy foods in general and organic over non. If it's unhealthy, it needs to be in that hearty way (like a good brownie or Mom's Pot Roast) , not the deep-fat-fried-smothered-in-gravy-way.
I do eat meat, just not shellfish. I also eat tofu.
I like silver over gold.
My favorite colors are pink, lavender, black, chocolate brown, pale blue, and red...
I love Autumn over summer.
I like outdoorsey stuff like camping and gardening or sitting on the porch reading a book. I even love to shovel the snowy walks and mow the lawn.
I am NOT a commercialism decorator. As cute as I might think something is, I prefer minimalized decor such as plain pumpkins on my porch for Autumn or a simple wreath on the door at Yule.
I do drink tea, cocoa, and coffee (but I only have a pod machine for coffee.)
My ears are pierced.
My hair is long.
I do wear contacts and glasses interchangeably.
I do have children (currently the boy, 3.5-smart as hell and annoying to boot!) and a hubby (grumpy-big-werewolf looking guy), so if they get remembered from time to time, I don't feel guilty taking the rest of the package for myself.
I am both very girly and very "Earth Mama/Hippy" at the same time. I am a firm, but fair and loving parent. I do tend to stay around the house a heck of a lot more than "go out" and I prefer craft and books stores to shoe and clothing shopping.
I do travel a lot. I will try to post updates should I have to leave for any period of time.
I do know how to use chopsticks. I collect them, even.
I love perfume and makeup and scented candles. I tend to like "clean" or "foody" scents instead of "heavy" or "musky" scents.
I am very tolerant of all religions. I am a pagan, so would appreciate it if I didn't get a ton of crosses- My mother sends me one for every holiday already. :) However, I do not mind getting Christian (or Buddist, or Muslim, or Taoist, or etc...) greetings, prayers, songs, psalms and well-wishes. As I said, I am very tolerant and I think that all cultures provide a bit of worthy thought and respect.
I speak a few languages and have no problem with learning more so don't feel compelled to translate to English if it will cause you too much discomfort... I can find a translation.
I also like the joke which goes, "Two peanuts went to the mall. One was assaulted."
I am allergic to shellfish and iodine. Please, please please!!! I know that shrimp flavored chewing gum sounds really cool... but save it for yourself. I don't want to die and my husband can't do his own laundry yet!
I also am allergic to anything containing gold, so if it contains "minerals", please be certain what kind of minerals are in it.
And finally, I'm pregnant, so nothing that a pregnant person should outright avoid.
I love to recycle materials that I have on hand and use down to the smallest piece of paper. However, occassionally, I can use some new materials (or new to me!) to work with. Things I can use: Stamping inks, Stamps, Paper Assortments (cardstock, vellum, normal... even wrapping paper that you've torn off an old present!), Cake decorating supplies and cookie cutters, paint brushes, paints, embellishments (especially seasonal ones or extremely generic ones like shapes), ribbon, edge shapers/scissors,craft punches, scrapbooking idea sheets, stickers...stickers... stickers...lol, Essential oils, tarts and candles, knitting help, yarn, spindles and rovings, plarn, and embroidery materials Books on green living, sustainable living, gardening, magicks (or other religious, thought-provoking materials), and patterns.

The 'hints, tips, shortcuts- Domestic Goddess' swap has been angeled by some wonderful people here at swapbot so you don't have to worry about fulfilling the swap. Hope things are improving for you soon.
PLEASE SEE THE FORUM THREAD OR READ BRANDEDECLIPS WEBSITE BEFORE LEAVING A 1 RATING FOR THIS SWAPPER. SHE IS GOING THROUGH A LOT RIGHT NOW, AND MANY PEOPLE ARE ANGELING HER SWAP IN AN EFFORT TO SHOW SUPPORT AND LOVE.
Feel better soon! You needn't worry about the ATC swap, just get healthy! :)
Just to let you know that I received Candy Wrapper swap atc's from Xebby on your behalf today. :-)
Im sorry for everything your going through. I hope you get better soon. Someone found an angel for your swaps so hopefully that will help ya out a bit. Get better soon ok. Pm me anytime you want to talk.
oooohhh, honey, if you find you need someone to talk to, i'm here! I'm soooo sorry!
Please take a minute to read this:
I just looked at Brandedeclipse's website and there is some pretty serious news on there.
I am hoping it would not be out of order for me to suggest to any fellow Swapbotter who is thinking of rating or commenting, that they could first take a look there, so they are aware of the situtation.
I hope you are faring okay with the baby and everything else. Since you are behind on 40 or so swaps I decided to send to your partner instead of you for the US only Journal and art. 20 days of journaling and art was a big project and I felt that it was reasonable to assume that your partner was not going to get one from you soon. You can mark it as sent when you get a chance.
Mandy
I see your have healthproblems right now. You need to take care of your baby first and foremost. I see quite a few individuals have rated you with ones. I will not rate you with a one on the turkey swap, if you send it down the road fine I will rate you then. take care
I would appreciate knowing if the significant other swap will be going out at all? You said it would be sent on the 3rd. I'm sorry if I'm bugging you while you're not well but this is upsetting me as my OH could really do with some good things in his life at the moment.
