Folk, especially English dance music and dark Nordic stuff. Synthpop and 80s stuff in general. I'm currently discovering the wonderful world of goth. 50s rock & roll. Tenpole Tudor are my favourite band. I also have a major soft spot for comic songs.
Knitting is the one I do most of, an honour that previously went to tatting. I make jewellery and anything else I can make with pretty sparkly bits and pieces. I do a bit of crochet. I love painting and otherwise embellishing objects into something beautiful. I've always done various papercrafts, nothing with serious dedication, but making little constructions out of card, pop-ups, that kind of thing.
Maid Marian and Her Merry Men! Knightmare, many, many other 80s kids' TV programmes. Love Soup (I would love to be able to write like David Renwick), Strictly Dance Fever - should never have been dropped! Black Books, Channel 4 News, The Big Knights, Father Ted. Loads of others I can't remember right now, mostly comedies. I love documentaries when I can find some serious ones, too, which is mostly only on BBC4 these days. Which reminds me: The Power of Nightmares.
Amelie, Brazil, Kitchen Stories, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Shaun of the Dead, Tremors, My First Mister. The Green Man, and pretty much anything else with Alistair Sim in it. Indeed, British black & white comedies of the 40s, 50s and 60s in general, it's rare there's one I don't enjoy. 80s fantasy films, no matter how cheesy.
Jane Eyre, miles above all else. Villette has closed the gap, though. I Capture The Castle. Watership Down, because it achieved the very rare feat of making me cry at a book. Persuasion - I can read Jane Austen and enjoy it, but that's the only one I really find find satisfying. How To Be a Bad Birdwatcher by Simon Barnes. Many of my recipe books!
I love folk dancing, baking, birds, crafts, and learning about anything and everything. I am most at home in dangly earrings and skirts with petticoats.
